BA and KLM have resumed talks again to a possible merger. Not alliance….merger. Bad news for customers: less slots, less competence, only benefits for high yield passengers. What will happen to the alliances in which both have stepped into?. BA with Oneworld and AA and KLM with Northwest. It´s a bit confusing. Do you think the EU compentence board will accept such a huge merger?. It will be the tougher in Europe. What will be the next steps?. What will other European airlines do next?.
As far as customers are concerned, we shoul benefit small independant airlines and punish this things. it´s quite bad for us.

RE: BA/KLM: Merger?
The deal would create the world’s biggest airline. But it faces stiff opposition from the EC which has stopped many British Airways proposed mergers such as a planned tie with Sabena in the early 1990s.The EC transport policy is mainly dominated by the French who once feared British Airways, but now the mood is changing with Air France now a profitable airline and a major contender in the international arena. If the merger was successful it will bring KLM and Northwest Airlines from Wings Alliance into the Oneworld alliance.

RE: BA/KLM: Merger?
I think this merger is not necessery from KLM’s side as they are not facing any losses, Holland’s economy is very good so why a merger, this is what bothers me. And BA is always upto somethig or the other so this is not new from there side. Tis big merger i think will affect alot to alliances like Star Alliance, as BA is not joining any major alliance, its just merging with other major carriers. SIA is doin same with Ansett.
