Now I would choose VS because of their new and updated fleet and I think First class on VS is more contemporary than on the BA

well, that’s easily remedied… Buy yourself a ‘great’ bed for at home, and next time you’re flying, stand sideways in the aisle. 😉

Club World is very good, but Virgin Upper Class is even better.

The Virgin product is however not quite as good as BA First, which is a bit of a mindblower by all accounts.

If you want value though, try BA’s World Traveller Plus. It looks a bit nicer than the Virgin Economy Plus.

Otherwise, all economy classes are much of a muchness – so go for the cheapest (or best timings) on that score.

BA Club World (the Longhaul Business Class product) is superb.

First Class is supposedly even better, I wouldn’t know, I haven’t been, although I’m told Virgin is pretty much the same.

On the whole, I’d say, if you’re not looking to collect Miles, you’re probably as well just going for whichever is cheaper…
