Hi all ,
See Here:

They hope to fly 747 aircraft into Manston up to 11 times a week which I think is very good news for Manston, Though I have also been hearing that British Airways World Cargo are moving from there Stansted base to Manston like MK did those years ago.

As always with a decision like this, there are some keen for the move and others not so. I personally wanted the move to happen as I am seeking employment as an avionics engineer in Kent and Manston and BAWC would have been a great opportunity.
Does anyone know what companies carry out aircraft maintenance at Manston?

Been confirmed that BAWC are staying at STN.
So why did they ask MSE to extend there flying hours then

If the move goes ahead will MSE be having Global Supply Systems & its 3 747-400’s based there?

A couple of weeks may be too long…We should find out this coming week if the contract has been signed.

Hi all,
Just wondering does anyone know if there is any news yet about this move?
Regards
James
I’ve not heard anything yet. I’m due to speak to BAWC in a couple of weeks, though my guess is I won’t be able to post on here what they say until an official announcement.

ba cargo landed at stansted at 4.30am this morning so much for no night flights
As I’m sure you’re aware, STN has 24-hour permitted operations and so the BA schedule is designed around a vareity of factors because it matters less when the aircraft arrive/depart the UK. As is typical, if they move to MSE, they will ahve to work within the permitted operating hours and this will become a factor in scheduling. In almost all cases where there are night movement restictions (accepting the Heathrow movements outside of permitted hours) airlines work within the rules or else accept heavy financial penalties. There are many airports where this is the case.

You will find that the promise of quiet nights to be false. These aircraft land all times of night. .
I use to live near a railway line and you could hear it all the time but after a while you get use to it .
So what sort of timescale are we talking about here before they stop flying from STN. I mean should I run up there within the next 2 weeks to get photos of them.
Cheers, Huw:)
I think they have been saying if BAWC do come to Manston It be in May.

I wouldn’t panic at STN just yet, from what I’ve heard this is more of a speculative move by MSE management than a definite plan by BA Cargo.

Job losses at Stansted
Great news for you but think about us down here losing our jobs. You will find that the promise of quiet nights to be false. These aircraft land all times of night.

2752m by 61m. Could do with 3000m+ for heavy 744’s departures.
Right, always think 9029 feet sounds longer!:D
