Withdrawal of services between London Heathrow and Bilbao

As part of our strategic flight cancellation programme this autumn, which is designed to protect the operational performance of the airline, this service was suspended for the whole of November 2004. It has been decided that the service will not restart after November.

British Airways has put procedures in place to help customers as a result of the forthcoming suspension of British Airways services between London Heathrow and Bilbao from 1 Dec 2004.

Please note: British Airways operates a codeshare between London Heathrow and Bilbao with Iberia. The codeshare arrangement will continue.

If your flight is cancelled, these are the following options available to you:

Customers who are in possession of a ticket purchased on or before prior to 2 Nov who are booked to travel on British Airways services between London Heathrow and Bilbao from 1 December 2004 onwards, may:

* Re-book onto the British Airways codeshare service, operated by Iberia, between London Heathrow and Bilbao at no additional cost. This will be in the same cabin that you are currently booked in, subject to availability and will be restricted to your original fare type.
* You may have a refund to the original form of payment of any unused part of your ticket.

British Airways has made a decision to withdraw services between London and Caracas & Bogotá from 6 February 2005. The last departure will be from Caracas & Bogotá on 6 February 2005.

British Airways has put procedures in place to help customers as a result of the forthcoming suspension.

Customers who are in possession of a ticket purchased prior to 03 November 2004 who are booked to travel on British Airways services between London and/or Caracas & Bogotá, for a travel date after 6th February 2005 may:

* Rebook onto a British Airways service between London and/or Caracas & Bogotá prior to 6 February 2005 at no additional cost. Rebooked travel should be made in the same class as the original booking.

* If the customer wishes to travel on their original date (after the route is suspended), British Airways will rebook customers onto alternative airlines.

* Obtain a full refund for any parts of the journey not made. The refund will be made to the original form of payment if the rebooking options are not satisfactory to the customer.

Yes, BA operated the morning flight and Iberia the afternoon one, now there is just the Iberia afternoon one. This sees BA in South America reduced to just Sao Paulo, Rio, and Buenos Aires, and all these are covered in one flight at the moment anyway.

Are you sure BA operated a flight of their own from LHR to Bilbao.Their timetable is showing the only flight was Iberias.

Good thinking on Iberia part.Itll benefit Iberia in big way and traffic will be up for BA on MAdrid flights presumably.

One word to explain this – IBERIA. Bogota and Caracas traffic can go through Madrid and Iberia can keep London-Bilbao for themselves (and Easyjet)
