Not sure if its worth doing a flight report on this, because it was so short, but here goes.
I got to LHR at 6:20 yesterday morning, went into T1 and hit the chaos! Pushing and shoving from every direction.
I had to ask one of the BA staff if the flight was still going ahead. She took my ticket and went to find out. 5 minutes later she returned telling me that it would. I went down to the domestic departures bit in T1 and checked in. Was given my boarding card then trhough to security.
Whilst wainting the gate 5abcd lounge, I was watching aircraft land outside. Saw the following:
5B-DBT — A330 — Cyprus Airways (first time for me… beautiful!)
VT-ESP — B744 — Air India
PH-BXP — B738 — KLM
G-MIDT — A320 — BMi (Parked at gate 5c)
G-EUUN — A320 — BA (BA newest 320, parked at gate 5A)
Also I saw an AC A330, Luxair ERJ, 2x AA 777, Qatar Airways 330.
Boarding started at 7:30. Gate 5d was our gate. We were taken across to T4 on buses… which I enjoyed, as it gave a tour of the whole airport.
Got across to T4 at around 7:45. And there she was… G-CIVX… my ride!
Boarded straight away… and boy did I get a good seat or what! Row 19 seat K… World Traveller seat next to the window!
Flight took off 5 minutes late… a nice smooth take off though. Took 15 minutes to get there.
Arrived at RIAT at 9:20. Parked up at the far end of the airport.
After everyone had got off… I did go up in the cockpit! 😀 Cool! Thats all I can say.
The show by itself was great… over 500 aircraft on display… I didn’t get round to see all of them, because we had to be back at the aircraft for boarding at 4:00pm.
But the ones I did see were excellent… B1 Bomber/F-117/Hercs/Ju-52/A330/757/tornados/Tristar/C-17/Sea Vixen/B2 bomer(stealth)/Red Arrows/An-26/Beech aircraft/Gulfstream 5/DH Dove/ And the list goes on.
The flying displays though I found very slow and boring, all except the Itallian display team… which put on a stunner of a show.
Boarded aircraft (G-CIVX) at 5:30. Took off at 6:20. We were the last flight of the day.
We flew back across London… got a few snaps of the sights. We landed on 27L.
When the aircraft finally landed we had to wait 15 minutes for a parking space. But im glad of the wait… because we got the best parking space in the airport… next door to G-BOAG!!!!!!! Concorde! Did I get a picture??? Hell yes.
I eventually ot home at 9:15.
Overall a Good day. Loved the BA747!
Cheers for reading! 🙂

BYAR was last seen operating a flight into LGW on July 2nd.

aha it is a -256 model after further investigation, so it can’t be the ex Britannia machine as the only B752s the had were-204s or -28As, and as you said BYAR is bak in BY colours.
Answer is it has an unknown future as far as i know. Perhaps the all white Air Holland a/c i read about was the now G-BYAR in a similar state at MAN and i’m confusing two stories???

“2. Air Holland now have the Air Scotland deal. Is this a/c destined for them as it was previously in the new Air Holland liv and waiting for a repaint?”
Unlikely.
I saw it last month at LGW, back under the reg of G-BYAR, still in an all white c/s but now with the BY logo and titles.
I not sure if BY plans to keep it like this to lease out to other airlines?

But when this aircraft was with Air Holland it was registered PH-AHS, and not PH-ITA.
I noticed on A.net the Danny(dan330) got a snap of PH-ITA at MAN a while back, and he says it belonged to Iberia as EC-FYK.

hi kev,
it is a former Air Holland a/c. Their could be two explanations for its appearance at Manchester.
1. The a/c was leased from Brittania, previously G-BYAR. Was this a/c on its return home?
2. Air Holland now have the Air Scotland deal. Is this a/c destined for them as it was previously in the new Air Holland liv and waiting for a repaint?
Just my thought – any news is very welcome!
