Although not the usual type of aircraft discussed on this forum, I did note yesterday that a BAC 1-11 fuselage had been delivered to FAST here in Farnborough. The fuselage is sitting on its undercarriage minus (of course) its wings. The rear section of the fuselage has been “chopped” so there is no fin, rudder or tailplane present or engines. The plane is painted all white with the titles “Cabin Crew Trainer” written in red over the forward row of windows.
Does anyone know its identity and from whence it came?

It would be great to see G-AVMJ painted in an old BEA colour scheme.
Another BAC 1-11 of interest that still survives at Southend is G-OBWD. It is currently painted white with ‘Fresh’ titles from some filming for a Sky TV. It is an ex Briish World aircraft that didn’t get to go to Malta with the rest of them. Tracing it’s history back it is ex G-BDAE of Dan Air and even more significant it is ex G-AXMI of Court Line. How fantastic it would be to see that restored and displayed in full Court Line colours. There is a Court Line association but would need some serious effort to achive this.

Thank you Ant.
An old familiar sight from my hectic plane-spotting days then. I wonder if they have all the other bits to restore it completely or are they just going to restore the fuselage.
It would be nice to see it in one of the BEA schemes the Super 1-11s wore rather than BA.

Hi Eric,
According to www.bac1-11jet.co.uk,it’s G-AVMJ…
“31 July 2005
The former European Aviation Cabin Trainer G-AVMJ left Bournemouth last night on a low loader. It arrived at the Farnborough Air Sciences Trust (FAST) Museum at Farnborough Airport. It will be restored to its former glory and displayed to the public when complete. It’s great news that another 1-11 has been saved from the scrapman albeit the fuselage only in this case!”
