Hi all! 🙂
Just got back from my stay in South Africa, and what a fantastic place it is too.
The flights with KLM were, as expected, excellent with first class service.
B737 BHX – AMS
B777 200er AMS – Cape Town intl.
One question though!
Is it me, but whenever I land at AMS, you get what feels like a two hour tour of the airport before the crew decide park the bloody thing..lol 😀
I think on BHX – AMS flight we were taxiing longer than we were in the air.
Anyway here are some pics from Schipol and a couple airbourne.Enjoy. 🙂
Cheers
Kev
P.S. On the third pic what are those flags doing in the engine intake?

I’ve attached a couple of my other pics, I wonder if that’s the same Giraffe in Tenthiji’s pic? ( I took these whilst on a safari truck near Wilderness)
Cheers

That’s the same 777 I’ve flown on 3 times; she seems to follow me around…gained a white nose since I flew on her last November though.

It’s not you. If you land in AMS on a euro flight, you land on the runway (not sure of the name or number) that is quite a distance from the airport, and you taxi over that little canal that provides great photo ops if you take a bus there (details on Peter’s website). It’s a long taxi!

Those are not flags as mentioned by GA. They are used to mark the kerosine lines. Schiphol has underground kerosine lines. A hose goes into the line, through a pump truck, into the plane. The area where the hose connects with the undergound line is indicated by the flag.
Nice photos.

Lovely pics there, especially the NW DC10 n/c.

Nice pictures. 🙂
I don’t think the flags are actually IN the air intake – on the full-size image they appear to be some distance in front of the engine.
