'Back To The Floor'

Nice to see a boss helping out for once.

Planetair MD Goes ¡¥Back to the Floor!¡¦
15 July 2003

Planet Air passengers who flew out on holiday to Malaga from Leeds Bradford
International Airport last week must have felt like they were seeing double by the time the aircraft took off.

Because when they arrived to check in for flight AEU 575 they found Planet Air¡¦s Managing Director Philip Firth manning the check-in desk¡K.. and that was just the start of a busy day for Philip.

Because he also:

„h Helped load the passengers luggage
„h Made the tannoy announcement for boarding
„h Was on the tug that towed the plane from its parking area
„h Was in Air Traffic Control to see the aircraft take off

¡§The main thing any holiday passenger wants is a low-cost flight and we know that is something we are already offering,¡¨ said Philip. ¡§But just as important to them is receiving a good friendly and efficient service and with the onset of the busy school holiday period I decided the best way to ensure we were delivering that was to get out of the office and try the jobs myself.

Philip is no stranger to the activity behind the scenes at the airport because he was previously Head of Marketing and Business Development, but he admits that his hands-on experience proved to be ¡§a sharp learning curve¡¨ as well as a good work out.

¡§When I was helping load the baggage I couldn¡¦t believe how heavy some of the cases were. I¡¦m sure some of the passengers must have taken the kitchen sink with them!¡¨ he said. ¡§It was certainly a useful experience and enabled me to see things from the perspective of both the passengers and my team, although I don¡¦t think I¡¦ll give up my day job!¡¨ he added.

Planet Air began operating in April this year and operates weekly flights from Leeds Bradford International Airport to Alicante, Faro and Tenerife in addition to Malaga.

He seems to like publicity.
On the 1st ever Planetair flight he gave the 1st couple to book flights with them 200 Euros they could use the executive lounge and he came to personally pick them up from their house!
But i suppose its nice to see a boss doing things for the company in the public eye.

Jeez, and some of you people criticise Richard Branson for his stunts!
