Back to 'The Lucky Country'.

Evenin’ All,

Hope to see a few folks at DX on Sunday, the last UK show of the season, because….

…On December 20th Mrs JDK & I are off from the UK to Aus for at least a couple of years. We’ll be getting to Aus just before Australia day, as we’ve a few weeks in California and Canada over Christmas (shame).

We are both looking forward to a new life in Aus, and the Victorian aviation scene is about to get another nosy parker :D, but we’ll also miss a few things in the UK – among which are Old Warden 🙁 and the meets of the forumites at such places 🙁 But the web is still there 🙂 so the rude remarks will continue to fly. 😉

Anyway, it’s au revoir to the UK, and I won’t be disapearing from here for some time yet either!

Cheers!

Thanks Albert. It’s a small world…

Yeah but you wouldn’t want to have to paint it.

Heh. I presume it was you in the Eurobox 2004 wearing your flat cap and doing a safe 42.5mph today? 😀 😛

Pax!

Last time I looked in the garage there was a sprint/hillclimb prepared Lotus-Sunbeam and a modified Ducati Monster, so, sorry, no flat cap or string back driving gloves for me JDK ‘ol boy….gastly things….. 😉 😀

James, how could you leave this sinking ship?? 🙁 Have a good time and as you say you are going for ‘a couple of years’, does that mean you are coming back?? No doubt, you will be back on the Forum when you get settled out there…or down there, I should say. Take care my friend!

Oh really? Silly boy. The fact that the MGB is as viable today as it was 40 years ago (will your car be aroind in 2044?) UNDER the UK national speed limit has obviously passed you by! I don’t expect others to agree with me, but having owned and driven three MGBs in the past decade for preference over ALL the other 30 plus types of cars from Merc to Nissan, I’ll miss the ‘ol beast. Brakes aren’t ABS, rear wheel drive is old fashioned, but I’d rather drive than be driven. Having driven Hardknott pass, the lake district, Exmoor, and Yorkshire as well as London, Edinburgh and Brighton in it, I think it’s hedge magnatism is overstated.

Chiz. Not buying YOU a drink!

Oh, Steve knows what he speaks of first hand btw. 😉

Not Cheers!

Boy 😮 ……..wow thanks, that’s made my day I feel heaps younger now, rather than the middle aged old git that I am…….

After 25 years in the classic car scene I’m glad to see some things never change and the MGOC ‘attitude’ is alive and well……… 😉

Always were a touchy lot…..

Her Majesty’s Inspector of Foreigners
Whitehall
London

Dear Mr Hiscock,

Thank you for your most illuminating and interesting letter of the 12th inst. I was most impressed with your knowledge of early nineteenth century laws, particularly those that Her Majesty’s government may (or may not) have forgotten to repeal in Parliament.

I can, however, confirm that there is a precedent for deportation to The Colonies in the case to which you refer. It is true that in 1807 a “Jack ‘the sheep worrier’ Kightly” was transported to Botany Bay for several counts of interfering with farm animals, but this sentance cannot, sadly, be automatically transferred to his distant relatives, even the Sheep.

However, it is possible to arrange transportation back to the colonies for those that are, in the words of the original charge from 1817, “Unfeasably thin”.

Therefore we have decided to act on your suggestion and the despicable low-life you refer to as “That twit Kiters” will be deported back to Botany bay with the additional charge of “being in possession of an offensive car”.

I trust this meets your approval and many thanks for your donation.

Yours sincerely,

Bony Tlair

James,
So you haven’t mentioned which part of this great country you’ll be residing in mate. I’m thinking it’ll be on the east coast, and probably either Vic or NSW. Enjoy Duxford while you’ve got the chance.

Cheers,
Matt

Shipping: It’s a thought. However, that’s not the plan. There are quite a few MGBs in Aus – and a thriving chaper of the MGOC there too, so here’s hoping!

Meantime, thanks for the good wishes folks!

Cheers

rear wheel drive is old fashioned

It’s not a real car unless the rear wheels are driven.

Better not drive an MBG on twisty roads unless you want to end up in a hedge…..
