Bad news for Cardiff

Just read on the Ryanair website that, with effect from Monday 1st May, all flights are being transferred to Bristol Airport.
http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/news.php?yr=06&month=apr&story=rte-en-250406

Shamrock321 was saying that 2 airlines that operated Cardiff to Dublin have withdrawn the rotue recently.
Another airline that is dropping a route to Dublin is BA (Loganair) Dublin to Knock route on Sunday 28th May.
HOWEVER, Aer Arann are taking over the route.

Swapping a once daily for a twice daily plus an extra route, all properly paid for … that’s a set-bacK? Please explain!

A while back Ryanair pulled all but the Dublin route from Birmingham and moved them to Nottingham East Midlands. This was after the start-up incentives ended and FR felt the costs, without the discounts were too high for no-frills.

All of them? I dont think so?

I think this is the first time FR have actualy pulled an airport after high costs? I know they have threatened to do so in the past, and refuse to start new routes because of it, but not actualy pull out, at least certainly a UK route?

Well that was quite a suprise!

Who is likely to take it over?

Bmibaby?
Aer Arann?
Air Southwest?

Will anyone really?

Hmmm interesting. 2 airlines that operated the DUB-CWL route have dropped it in the last few weeks. Id love to see WW back in DUB.

It was always rumoured that they didnt get on with the Airport, but didnt actually think they would pull out.
Ryanair nearly always had good loads out of CWL, so all of the above are likely contenders i’d say! With the right marketing there could be room for 2 operators.

Well Ryanair have always said they won’t fly to high cost airports – so no surprise, although I wouldn’t be sure that Ryanair are telling the whole story!
