Bad start for GSM

Hey everybody as Im sure you are all aware GSM have begun their summer programme from YHM (Hamilton) There first flight arrived today over 3 hours late. Its not the best start and isnt a good sign for the summer ahead!!!

How many 757s will be operating the YHM-Europe flights or are we looking at days when delays keep building growing from minutes to hours to days?

Well when I left work yesterday the DUB-YHM flight was delayed 4 hours it eventually left 7 hours late.

I had a woman on the phone today who had arrived without her bag (I found it) and she said the only positive thing was she was in business class and the service was excellent.

Could you elaborate on that statement please?

I’ll try!
The YHM schedule has been delayed since it first started due to the late delivery of the 2nd B752 and the 3rd one is yet to arrive, hence the fleet is so stretched that they have no way of making the delay up. (on another note, check the 26.5 hour delay on YVR/YYC at GLA today/tomorrow).
The EDI delays on Thursday.. well, BCN the previous few days had been operating with B738 via Glasgow, on Thursday BCN was direct as the B738 had returned to GLA which I believe resulted in a shortage of aircraft at EDI as there was nothing to operate the AGP flight. The EDI delays were also partly down to very poor scheduling in trying to keep the delays to a minimum.

Easiest thing to do is read this thread 😉 – http://www.egphforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=742&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=15

These problems (EDI yesterday and YHM) are down to shortage of aircraft.

Didn’t the Malaga go all to pot at the last bank holiday (easter) as well. I remember sitting in the departure lounge at EDI listening to people rant at a 6hr delay with GSM.

I would say too much too soon. Are these genuine ‘tech’ probs or just shortage of a/c?

These problems (EDI yesterday and YHM) are down to shortage of aircraft, as you say, caused by attempting too much too soon. They have a strong customer base in Scotland (although for how much longer?) and they have worked on buillding on that until they expanded so dramatically.

Again the GSM flight from DUB-YHM was delayed 4 hours today.

They never sent a list of passengrs through so check in staff had no idea who was actually supposed to be on the flight.

Eventually a rep turned up with the name lsit and refused to talk to pax it was going so badly.

Could be worse, you could be a EDI originating GSM passenger today. Both AGP flights and the NCE flights have delays varying from 5-8 hours.

The YHM flights weren’t their only problem yesterday. From what I heard, the 767 operating for AIC went tech atLHR, the outbound YYC or YVR was heavily delayed too.

It was a bit chaotic, and can’t all be blamed on the media or weather.

Latest 737-700 was delivered to Glasgow a few days ago coming from BFI non-stop.

They still have a relatively small fleet and unfortunately these things happen… Planes go tech all the time, it’s just easier to cope with when you are a large airline with a large pool of aircraft at your disposal.

Andrew,

I dont think you can judge them by their first single service. I have rarely heard of a launch flight that goes on time due to press wanting coverage etc. I bet the delays were related to weather or press/media/launch!

Lets give them a chance to get warmed up!

I was hoping they would use a 767,but a 757 will do just fine, alot of the charters suffer from delays so i suppose this is no different:rolleyes:
