Bader – The 'Carry On' thread

Stranger things have apparently happened, old boy, like DB turning up in Liverpool whilst he was a POW! What you don’t know, is that at that time he and Thelma had a Skytours package holiday to Cairo, and whilst they were there DB was mummified! Who knows what secrets the desert sands might reveal!!!

I think I have some evidence of this, I was sent this photograph by Sqn Ldr Tarquin Ballox DFC, who was in command of No 13 Sqn WVRS in North African between 1942 and 1944.

This apparently shows DB enjoying himself on the 18th tee of the Royal Eygptian Pyramid Golf club.

A solid bit of advice.

This is becoming very childish and all rather tedious.

You know, I don’t know what is worse, the fact that this thread has deterioated into verbal abuse ,or the fact that all the best “Carry On” one liners have already been used! (ooh I dunno though)

Absolutely – but, Web Pilot, you can now no doubt expect to face the Wizard of Oz’s wrath!

Moggy has, I am sure, the 100% support of 99% of forum users. Moderators perform an essential but unenviable function – for which we thank them – and certainly do not deserve to be subjected to behaviour such as this.

Heh. I’ve known many “veterans” in my time and Mr Williams’ behaviour is quite out of character compared with the quiet heroism I have generally associated with the men he seeks to associate himself with.

Moggy has my complete confidence. Despite his feelings towards the nonsense emanating from down under, he has acted in an exemplary fashion in this matter and I trust that this will be noted by the Key Webmaster when considering anything Mr Williams has alleged.

Kenneth, for gods sake grow up and act with some dignity. All you are doing is making yourself a laughing stock.

I have taken the decision to move this thread to ‘General Discussion’

My reasoning is

1) It has nothing to do with historic aviation bar featuring a pilot from that era as the butt of a concoted tale.

2) Serious aviation students are upset by it (see above – Short Bros)

3) In Ashley’s absence on holiday it make the thread available for other moderators to monitor.

I hope this meets with people’s approval

Believe what you like.

There is absolutely no onus on me to provide any evidence over and above referring you to every scrap of historical information ever written on W/C Bader, and again pointing out the total lack of any concrete evidence in your own fable.

Moggy

As I expected. You have now labelled yourself as as a loud mouthed Buffoon with no credibilty – we will now see what the Webmaster thinks of you.

I believe that you now have a responsibility to me, yourself and to other members of this Forum to provide conclusive evidence to support your claims that my website story is a total concoction.

Putting Money Where Mouth Is.

Yet again you confuse my belief, in the absence of one shred of evidence to the contrary anywhere in your entire outpourings to the contrary, that Douglas Bader was imprisoned by the Germans from the date of his capture to his eventual liberation (bar one or two well documented escapes), with a bias against you.

When you have finished seriously comtemplating and actually want to take the drastic action you can go to the Forum Code of Conduct at the top of the forum and from there contact the Webmaster by private message in the usual way.

Moggy or who ever you are,

In a very recent post that you placed on this Forum you made certain assertions that besmirched my reputation, character and credibility by stating unequivocally that you believe and and probably know that my BADER ENIGMA WEBSITE is a complete “Concoction”

As the moderator on this Forum you have a number of serious responsibilities that I would believe would include having an open mind and that you should not purposefully target in particular, posters such as me, with your completely false and unfounded accusations.

I believe that you now have a responsibility to me, yourself and to other members of this Forum to provide conclusive evidence to support your claims that my website story is a total concoction. The research that visitors to my website read has taken thus far, three years to amass and with the help of numerous people from many parts of the world – It is not perfect and there are still many gaps that we are trying to close. For someone as uninformed as you appear to be, to publicly make the accusations that you have so cruelly and callously done, is not only insult to my intelligence but to all thinking members of the public and members of this Forum.

I now challenge you to produce and publish on this Forum all information you may have or have access to that will prove beyond a shadow of doubt your assertion that my website is a total concoction. Hearsay evidence will not be accepted but just clear and obvious facts that can be confirmed, such as statements from any witnesses you may want to produce etc. References to what has been written by historians about the 1939-1945 conflict must be indisputably authentic and proved to be thus.

The only FACTS that I claim in my narrative is that I met Bader when I did and I freely state that evrything else is supposition or theory, if you have read my story you would know this

Your failure to produce any evidence to support your claims that my website is a concoction will of course place you in an untenable position with untold future consequences that will subject you to much of the unfounded ridicule that persons such as you have fostered and generated against me.

I shall await your earliest response and the required evidence to support your accusations.

I joined this forum for serious debates and increase my knowledge of our aviation heritage and at the same time hopefully help others.

I would then seriously advise you to steer clear of this thread.

There are plenty of other topics open which are both serious and interesting.

Mr Williams occasional knockabout appearances here are an acquired taste, and I also agree with you that his whole fable denigrates the memory of men far better than he will ever be.

You may add ‘kenjomo’ to your ignore list and you will not be troubled by his fantasies again. I don’t have that option. 😉

With surreal posts like above, I find myself getting increasingly disillusioned.

I do not feel we are doing the memory of those who served and died any justice by continuing this type of debate.

Just lie back and think of England – the result will be much the same.

I am most seriously contemplating that rather drastic action as it seems to me that you are SO patently biased against me that both of us cannot exist in the same Forum – Please tell how do I initiate this action?

I live next to Julius Neave (across the fields) ,who I believe is Airey’s brother I would ask him his opinion, but I know for a fact that the land between us is mined , and the barbed wire that is there seemingly to keep the sheep in, is in fact carrying a very high voltage; in fact I am surprised that Mark 12 was able to get close enough to his house, to take the picture posted on this thread, what with all the guard dogs, and search lights…

Stuart,

I did note that in the light of the new revelations the plaque by his front door has been adjusted.

As for my own role here it is quite clear. I am allowed my own opinions, and my opinion is that your ‘Enigma’ tale is a complete concoction. Because of my known opposition to your fable I have been very cautious in my moderation. Some of the stuff you have posted would have earned other posters a suspension.

However, any more personal insults aimed at forum contributors WILL earn you a short rest from posting on this forum.

I hope this is clear. If you feel in any way that I am treating you unfairly you are at liberty to make that complaint direct to the Webmaster

Gentlemen. Airey Neave was with MI9 after escaping from Colditz in 1942. Food for thought, with his later political career and influence…..

You seem to be finding it difficult to differentiate between attacking somebody’s views / beliefs / theories / stories and personal attacks such as your suggestion that various posters here need to refer to their parents for permission etc.

It really isn’t that difficult. Discuss your story, do not attack others. OK?

I’m sure that there are many real Australians in your adopted home who would not be amused by your tasteful wit and repartee.

Steer clear of the personal insults that are also present in your post please. Argue your case by all means, but insulting those that don’t agree with you is not acceptable.

Moggy,

So what you seem to saying is that it is OK for any of the numerous ill-mannered clowns on this Forum to run riot taking the P*SS out of me and my regretfully, for you people, true story, BUT, as soon as someone gives back a taste of their own medicine you/they read the riot act and run off stage crying foul !!! As the Aussies would say, Fair Bl**dy go mate!

Remember the old guy in Dad’s Army who used to proclaim that they, the Germans, don’t like it, the bayonet, up them? Seems that’s the case in this Forum.

As for my humour not being appreciated by Austrayans, Fair Dinkum mate, they mostly being convict stock from the old dart would think it Bonza. You live in what it seems is a very unusal little world where one cannot print the word P*SS wthout having to sanitize it – our televisions programmes in the antipodes use every effing swear word known to man.

Just keep a neutral stance old man, I hardly think the moderator should be hurling slings and arrows at those he does not particularly like?

G’Day

Kenneth Williams
