So if nothing else we might get a UK future air strategy which will tell us what they are planning beyond Typhoon and the F35.
BAE having to rely on foreign governments (like Turkey) is a dangerous position to be in, so perhaps it’s time for an order for something only BAE makes….?
Either that or they just carry on buying everything from Boeing and LM and sell the company.

Firing skilled workers because you have no work for them could render you incapable of doing similar work later. Those people may have lost their skills or been employed elsewhere, & it would take time for others to become equally skilled. It’s a very inefficient way of working.
The RN “Astute” program comes to mind.

The government recognised that with the BAE shipbuilding contract, but even when tied into that contract proved incapable of placing orders. There appears to be no idea of planning for the future.

The key point being made is that there are no future orders from the UK. BAE is primed and ready to jump in on the next big project and there is no sign from the government that it has a plan for them.
They need to make some progress n the UCAV and what is replacing Typhoon.

Is it surprising that Typhoon-related employment is decreasing? Most of the aircraft ordered have been delivered and the production rate has been lowered. If you are producing less aircraft, you do not need as many hands. If an order from Qatar or Saudi Arabia were secured that would improve things until those orders were delivered. Eurofighter was set up to develop and build fighters for the partners, has served that purpose and now that is nearly done the people required to do that are excess to requirements. Sad for those concerned but inevitable.
Good luck to BAE Systems in their endeavours to get more orders from Qatar and/or Saudi Arabia. If one comes through I hope they can re-hire some/most of the people who are currently in line for redundancy.

BAE UK will face alot more losses as America first is imposed on export markets. Than there is Bombardier that is impacting . seem alot less opportunity for aerospace workers.
