BAe Systems Hind Info

Hello all,

Thought Id make another of my visits across from the Historics forum.

Im wondering if anybody can help regarding the BAe Systems Hind update program.

For those unaware BAe purchased a number of Hind helicopters for the purpose of kitting out with western avionics and equipment to make the type compatible with western weapons. It was mainly envisaged that the package could be marketed to those ex eastern bloc countries who were joining NATO at the time ie Poland amongst others. The western refit would allow them to function in the battlefield alongside the exisisting NATO members better.

Ok history lesson over for now. Im wondering what happened to the package. Did any get sold to any nations. If so who? if not why not?

I know that the Hinds BAe purchased are not been used now as we at the Midland Air Museum have one on loan to us.

So as Oasis once said. Whats the Story??
