Hi All,
Just wondering if anyone has heard if their is going to be a second installment of this great program.
I remember reading that Mr. Hanks was looking to do another with a Pacific theme. Either being a Carrier based Squadron or a Land based one.
As anyone heard anything How about it Mark12 you seem to get all the Info.

From an American perspective, if they were to do another “Band of Brothers”, I’d think basing it on the book “Flag of our Fathers” would make a lot of sense. Ironically, it’s another Easy Company, E Company, 2nd Bt, 28th Marine Regt, 5th Marine Division, but their experience on Iwo was really something. There is another book on Iwo by Richard Wheeler who was an E Company vet that is also very good as a resource
Long before reading either book when I was in college, I worked in a nursing home where the security guard at night was a former Marine and E Company vet who’d been on Iwo and if I asked just right and showed him I knew a bit about Iwo, I could get him to talk just a little about his experience. Some really frightening stuff.
Now if it was from an English perspective, I bet Snapper could make a good case for 609 Squadron, and I’d probably push for 41 Squadron myself 🙂
I’ll confess to not knowing nearly enough about British Army History to make a case for any particular unit.

Hi Guys,
As for someone who is new to this board, all I ask is lets try to keep it nice.
The reason I started this thread was to see if anyone out their had heard anything about another version of Band of Brothers.
Not by the same author but what I understand Mr. Hanks had lookinto taking a diary or combat logs and turning it into a seroius like Band.
Besides if we want to get Tech. about who won the war and stuff give me an e-mail off line and I’ll explain it to you.

Ah, spoken with all the wisdom of someone with three posts to their name.
This Forum, the Historic one that is, is actually very robust.
We are a bunch of friends, but that doesn’t preclude either
1) Occasional fallings-out
2) A bit of friendly banter between us.
Wrenchbender has been controversial in the past, now he just does it out of duty, it is expected of him. He no more believes that the US saved us in WW2, than I think our presence in Vietnam would have made the slightest difference.
If you want to act as a one man UN peace-keeper can I suggest you pop over to the Modern Military Forum? They need you badly there.
Good luck
Moggy

Thanks for realizing it for what it is Moggy. I have been home alone since United gave me and my mates the Boot and the wife is a executive in the aerospace industry so I don’t see her much except in the evening. The only thing I feel really hot about is letting good airframes rot into junk. I like rebuilding airplanes and feel really strongly about this. Someday I would like to trade with someone in England. They come over here and we go to all the noteable Aviation spots and them I go there and they do the same.

moggy, how many posts he has made surely has nothing to do with anything. It was a fair posting and perhaps we should follow the advice. I think many would agree that Wrenchbenders comments in the past have been extreme and enough for threads to disappear. These I think would stray from the friendly banter you mention.
Just a thought,
best regards steve

Who won what
It seems to me that the forum is beginning to degenerate into the usual mix of abuse and personal slanging found on so many other forums. I propose that all those involved call a cease fire. There is nothing to be gained from cheap shots at each other over who did or did not win the war. (You might wish to consider the fact that both nations have since fought side by side in Korea, Gulf War 1 and 2 and worked together extremely well). We are all (supposedly) on the same side (UN/NATO etc). Give it a rest guys and get back to the serious business – aeroplanes!

eric, yes i think you’ll find that he is indeed trying to be deliberately provocative. Better to ignore rather than risk an interesting thread falling to pieces.

Band Of Brothers on the History Channel here in the states!
The outstanding series Band of Brothers is now running on The History Channel here in the States. I would think the series would also appear on History Channel International soon as well.
Just wondering if the ABC 1963-1967 television show “COMBAT” ever run in the UK or Europe? This was an outstanding series about the US GI fighting in the ETO during WWII. Wondering if it ever ran on BBC or other European television stations!
Thanks!

Are you trying to be deliberately provocative?
Anyway, the Allies in WW2 did not just consist of the British and the Americans.
An even stronger argument would be that it was the Russians who won the war against the Germans for the Allies.
In fact, neither is true.

would of liked them to do a series on the British paratroopers in WW2, didnt Stephen E Ambrose do a book on PEGASUS BRIDGE?
The band of brothers book was very well covered in the series so their probably wont be another series.
Pegasus Bridge is a fairly slim volume so would only take up maybe two episodes.
D-Day and Citizen Soldiers would make a couple of series with a cast of thousands.
Wild Blue is again a fairly slim volume.
All the books are a very good read that i could not put down. After reading Band of Brothers i had to buy the rest of them.
p.s. his book about Custers last stand is facinating.
😀 😎 😉
if anybody hasent read the books they are all snippets of interviews and letters etc of the people who were actualy there doing the fighting and as you would expect from eyewitness accounts they are very graphical.

It would be good to see another series, Band of Brothers has to be the best TV series ever!
