Barajas is said to be the biggest airport in the world.
Madrid-Barcelona is said to be the biggest air route in the world.
However, AVE just opened between Madrid and Barcelona. Trip time 158 minutes.
Do air services between Madrid and Barcelona remain?
How well is AVE connected to Barajas? What is the trip time from train doors closed in Barcelona railway station to train doors open inside the Barajas airport building?

I don´t know about comparisions with other routes, but planes are still flying from Madrid to Barcelona. Note that most connections are made in Madrid, and these feeder routes are still essential. The point is that train from both cities takes the same amount of time. If you get an offer and go from downtown to downtown it could be convinient. If you don´t get an offer, plane is more convient and usually cheaper.
About 50 flights a day in each direction. Served by Iberia, Spanair, Air Europa and Vueling. Competence will be fierce now.

fares are still too high to compete with flight. It´s being a paradox, that AVE is being used by businessmen and plane by people seeking to pay less for their trips.
Well, now Peking is the biggest airport. (I think Heathrow is not?)
It is summer time now, and summer schedules. Do planes still fly MAD-BCN? And is it still the biggest air route in the world?

Yeah the MAD-BCN route is probaly the most buisest route in the world barring LON-DUB. I think though that the AVE will be quikcest because you dont have to check in

Back in 2006, when Terminal 4 was opened, Barajas was the largest airport in terms of terminal floor space – 11 million sq feet. It wasnt larger in any other sense.
That was 2006. Beijing (when its completed) and the like will be larger, AFAIK.
It will, tomorrow.
Is Barajas still the biggest airport of the world today, or is some third airport bigger?

Advertising video. Nothing new. A Siemens ICE-300 which is currently running in Germany. Although we have local brand of High Speed train, german material was purchased.

Probably they meant it was the biggest single terminal. It was inagurated in feb 2006. Some people love it, some hate it.

Barajas the biggest in the world. Not at all. Let´s say only in Spain 🙂
I do not know, when the new terminal was built, it was said that the airport became the biggest in the whole world?

The comparision between train vs planes has been established and the plane still wins for 15 minutes. Fares are high on the AVE, and it´s only convenient if you go from city to city. If you connect AVE from the airport, it´s not really convinient.
Spanish airports don´t normaly have railway facilities except Barcelona. ADIF former RENFE (Spanish railway system) and AENA (Spanish BAA) are two ageing fosiles which don´t talk to each other. There are train lines which pass by airports (Jerez only 150 m away) and don´t build train stations.
So if you want to get to train station (Atocha) from Madrid, you have to get the tube changing couple of times, or taxi (which tend to cheat you). Sorry
