In my travels last week, the BBC just happened to making a film at the location I was staying.
In general chatting with the location manager for the region, he advised that a local farmer had a ‘Spitfire fuel tank’ in one of his sheds where they had filmed previously.
Well needless to say…..etc.
Not a Spitfire tank but certainly a self sealing military tank of about 200 gallons +/- and about 6′ in length.
A quick google search with possible ‘bomber name + fuel tank’ suggests maybe a Lancaster fuselage tank but I am not 100% convinced.
Can anybody please make a 100% identification of this tank?

Halifax wing-tank I think; the long dimension lies fore / aft.

Not a 100% certain answer, but it looks a lot like the Halifax fuselage tank held at NEAM (now NELSAM). There seems to be an older thread where someone’s found something very similar and come to the same conclusion.

Does anyone at NELSAM/NEAM have decent photographs of the tank?
