I have heard Mr Donnet is quite an approachable person and a remarkable man. I have just successfully test flown my 1/6th scale Spitfire which is painted in his colours (as CO 64sqn) and i would love to get in contact with him to see what he thinks of my aircraft and perhaps get him to sign a photo or something. Also, a personal account to accompany my aircraft when i do shows would be amazing.
Does anyone know how i can contact him, or if anyone would be able to mail me his details i would be extremely grateful.
Thanks in advance guys.

I’m in contact with him also, working on a project to remember his flying instructor.

At Legends this year he was present for the presentation of the Belgian Croix de Guerre to Roland Beamonts family, and was thus with 609 ‘crowd’ for the day. Anyway, the majority of pilots were signing, others milling around, and the rest of the families / friends etc were out the back of the tent milling around. Now, as I knew he was coming, I had read his book and was reasonably familiar with his story – and certainly aware of who he was and what he’d done. So, I went and said hello and mentioned the book (he was on his own at the time as not many people knew who he was – and the ones that did weren’t there at the time) and his eyes lit up. We chatted for at least ten minutes, and I found him very pleasant. Alas, I cannot recall the conversation though – it was just a general chat as such. Nice chap in my limited experience. I wish i’d had my copy of ‘Flight to Freedom’ with me to ask him to sign it as it is now a bit more meaningful to me – having met him in the flesh.
