BA's Manchester operations (After BA Connect leave)

Hi

Just wondering guys what will be left off British Airways operation at Manchester once BA connect becomes part off the flybe.com operation???

If anyone can I’d like to know which routes will still exists and what aircraft types will be still seen at MAN.

P.S

Thank you in advance

I would rather imagine that any potential drop in revenue by getting crew to position up on a LHR/LGW service would be more than made up with the idea that it’s now a 3 class service, and so have no need for carting some many “premium” passengers on the shuttle service as they can get an almost LHR-standard service out of MAN.

Given the propensity for BA to cut non-profit and low-profit routes from the regions run by BACitiExpress/BAConnect, and the dropping of some long-haul services which were not deemed to be “commercially viable”, I think what I posted is a pretty safe bet!

Will the MAN/JFK route continue to be viable when they have to start shipping crew up and down from either LHR or LGW? And if they come up as passenger on another service that means less seats to sell and less revenue

I don’t believe we need to know what figures it produces to the bottom line!Given the propensity for BA to cut non-profit and low-profit routes from the regions run by BACitiExpress/BAConnect, and the dropping of some long-haul services which were not deemed to be “commercially viable”, I think what I posted is a pretty safe bet!

Well I would have thought so too – hence David’s comment caught my eye.

£1,045,326.12 last year, give or take a few pence.

No seriously BA aren’t going to reveal such confidential and commercially sensitive information as that!

I honestly don’t think that the JFK service will remain for too long after the deal is completed.

And why would they want to scupper a route that produces a decent profit every year? All BA have done is to make it very, very unlikely that they will be adding more long-haul from the regions as any new route would have to be predominantely focused on non-connecting traffic as I imagine it unlikely that they would do a tie-in with flybe, despite the proposed 15% stake they will take

Question answered, Thanks for all your replies guys, Its Much appreciated.

So from what I now understand is they will be BA flight numbers on the following 8 routes only at Manchester once BA Connect becomes Flybe.

British Airways (Mainline)
London Heathrow = A319, A320, A321 & B757’s
London Gatwick = B733, B734, B735 and the A319 every now & Then
New York JFK = B767-300
British Airways Franchise (GB Airways)
Heraklion, Malta, Paphos, Dubrovnik & Tenerife South = A320

So Manchester really will become a strong hold for FlyBe.

If they could retsart their co-operation with CO or create a good partnership with some of the other long haul carriers operating into MAN then they could get huge business from feeder traffic.

There is real potential and great oppourtunitys for FlyBe at MAN.

LHR, LGW and NYC will be it for BA mainline. All the rest of the routes will be transferred to FlyBE.

GB Airways will operate to Heraklion, Malta, Paphos, Dubrovnik and Tenerife South in Summer with an Airbus A320
(most Tenerife services will operate MAN-TFS-EMA-TFS-MAN)

From memory I think it will be:
LHR A319/20 & 757
LGW 737-3/4/5 & A319 Occasionaly
JFK 767-300

Plus the GB Airways flights. Add the A321 for LHR flights though
