Battle of Britain air show Headcorn, runway bumps

I have not been into Headcorn since the 90s but seeing this video reminds me of how bumpy it used to be, looks like the bumps are still there.
I know the place gets a hell of a lot of use wet and dry so hard to maintain it perfectly.
DX grass was always very good NW great is a little short and OW always was always good apart from the hump !

No criticism just observation

Boomps-a-daisy. ‘nough to make you weep. šŸ˜‰

Sorry couldn’t resist.

I always say, if you’ve got gas and you’ve got daylight, you can always go around.

Ah! So that bump in the Miss Helen video is the lip of the taxiway?

Shame, as that landing would have been perfect otherwise.

If you land short on the grass at Dx at the M11 end then the lip of the taxiway can cause problems, just like Sally B being catapulted back into the air a few years back.

I thought there was a bump still at Duxford, certainly until fairly recently.

Caused Miss Helen some grief when she had her almost dead-stick landing a few years back…

Mind you, that’s more than a bump, more like the Teletubbies old house at the end of the runway.

Didn’t Duxford have a “bump”, or did that go when the M11 went in ?

Some very atmospheric take off and landing sequences there – reminds me of The Battle of Britain film scramble and landing footage. Due to the display axis distance from the crowd-line, for me easily the most interesting part of the video. I’m sure the application of power for the overshoot is finely judged.

I think discretion was the better part of valour in the case of the desert spit, as he decided to go around after that last bounce; one of the Luftwaffe (probably a reenactor but you never really know) told me he had a mag out, and whether true or not I was very relieved to see him down next time round.
