The camera ship used for the Battle of Britain film is the same B-25 as shown in Janie’s contribution. Here’s a picture I took of it at Bovingdon in the UK in October 1968 after filming had been completed. It is NOT the machine used by Aces High as the camera ship for Memphis.

Elmo you are correct in both cases.
Ace`s B-25 N1042B had the panoramic nose removed before it was delivered back to the States. The afore mentioned nose is still at NW, stored in one of the hangars.

I thought the North Weald derelict B-25 went to Wycombe Air Park for restoration to be displayed on the airfield and the wreck at Sandtoft went to Europe for restoration to static display,

looks to be in good shape. Now who has an engine for her 🙂

TJ…The Battle of Britain B-25 is minus one engine stored in Virginia but not really derelict as such. She will return to the air.
NOTE: THIS IS AN OLD THREAD I’VE DUG UP
Here is the ‘not really derelict’ B25 at Franklin Rose airport in Virginia. This was taken at the end of July 2006 whilst touring the U.S. in the Chipmunk.

TJ- Aces sold the static ‘Bedsheet Bomber’ to a well known U.K operator in the 1990’s.
She has remained firmly rooted at North Weald ever since. The former Coventry B-25
‘Laiden Maiden’ was acquired in the early 1990’s and sold to the outfit at Sandtoft.
Currently near Doncaster awaiting a sale. The Battle of Britain B-25 is minus one engine stored in Virginia but not really derelict as such. She will return to the air.

I knew that Aces High owned two B-25s. N1042B which they used as a camera ship and G-BKXW currently at North Weald. But according to the Directory, they also had the Sandtoft B-25 in the mid-late 80s. So, only one flyer, and two static 25s for Aces High. The BoB 25 is N6578D which is said to be derelict in Virginia.

Oh ok.. thanks david. any ideas when she was converted back? what does she look like now? know of any photos out of interest?! thought she would have been a useful and in demand aircraft the way she was for aerial filming??

B-17 Buff – the former Aces High cameraship is back in the U.S.A sporting a standard
bomb aimers nose and a new colour scheme. She wasn’t the BofB cameraship.

By Aces High aircraft do you mean the ‘derelict’ B-25 at North Weald that dosn’t belong to them? I seem to remember the BofB camera ship returned to the U.S to become ‘Chapter XI’ .
Err.. dont know about that one at north weald?! was it the same aircraft used for the memphis belle filming? if not, what happen to that one? is it still about/ the same?
