What 3 books would members recommend and why, to someone with no knowledge of the subject. Mine would be ‘Strike from the sky’ by Alexander McKee, ‘Eagle Day’ by Richard Collier and ‘Fighter Boys’ by Patrick Bishop. The last one I didn’t buy when it first came out a couple of years ago as I thought there would be little new to say on the subject, but it is a great read.

Then & Now and Men of the Battle are 2 books I wouldn’t be without, but I’m thinking of books for newcomers to the subject. The others mentioned can also be bought cheaply in paperback.

Hmm, a good selection of fact books there. I’ll try to plump for a next three examining people who took part – not answering your question, I know, but…
“The Last Enemy” – need I say more?
“First Light” by Geoffrey Wellum
“One of the Few” by Johnny Kent
