I’m sure most of us have seen it many times, but there’s always folk out there who’ll be coming to it new. 7.55pm, Channel 5.

I saw bits of it and agree some dialogue cuts were made…is it me or was one of the cuts during the scene where the polish pilot baled out and the farmhand was pointing the pitchfork at him – he should have been saying stuff like ”my ar5e” and ”you boche bstard” – or did i just miss it LOL – to be fair was it a pre 9 pm version of the film ?
I didn’t get to see that scene, but I imagine it was, since the earlier reference to “yellow-nose *******s” was cut, too.
If the film was screened on Channel 4 at that time, it would likely be uncut. They don’t screw around with movies.

About the wooden acting…the trouble is – the production team were trying to make it realistic, real life was a little boring dialogue wise for most people and as to the ‘Erk’ on the telephone (an AC2 or AC plonk !) – he was of such low rank and extremely young – to him a Sergeant was God – how would he react if an AVM walked in the room ?
I have seen a 20 year service senior NCO freeze up just because he would have to approach 3 very senior officers 😀

It was on again at 4.00pm yesterday afternoon. My wife who does not watch war films even sat through(and enjoyed)it despite my constant interruptions such as “Don’t you yell at me, Mr. Warwick!”

Someone on Britmodeller has done that recently with the new Airfix 1/48th PR.XIX, and it looked spectacular. I’ll post a link up if I can find it again.
I did this back in April if it’s is the example you noticed on brit modeller.

Any specific bits ?
So far mainly some of the language (resulting in some rather awkward dialogue edits) and the shot of the pilot getting killed during the Northern raids sequence. No doubt the “wounded gunner” section will be taken out entirely!

Thanks for that link…..you beat me to it!
It is a shame that many people probably do not realise why he is in the film; I’ve seen him criticized several times for his ‘wooden’ acting!
His obituary from the Telegraph:
By: Creaking Door - 12th October 2013 at 17:22
Does anybody know who he was (or is) and his story?
Apparently he was William G Foxley who was an RAF navigator who survived a 1944 bomber crash. He was burned, trying to save a comrade; he lost his fingers, his right eye, and underwent some 40 surgeries.
(Thanks IMDb.)

Did anybody else notice this thread is over a year old?
I am sure that this ‘actor’ really had been burned in a crashed or shot-down aircraft and I respect the filmmakers for including this element of reality into the drama.

Always wondered how the guy with the badly burned face [ sector controller i think] could have made such a fast recovery from his injuries
He only mentions an “escapade with a burning Hurricane”. Doesn’t state when or where, and he might not have even been shot down – it could have been an in-flight engine fire some time before Dunkirk.

I was going to post that myself!
I was just thinking the other day how I fancied building the Airfix Spitfire XIX and making it a film aircraft…!
