Battle of Britain Commemorative Veterans Flight – 28th August

A British Airways Airbus will depart Heathrow today at 2pm for a flight around the main areas where the Battle of Britain was fought – Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Sussex and Kent coasts and then up North Sea before return to Heathrow at 3.50. On board will be surviving Battle of Britain veterans.

I am given to understand that much of the flight will be at 4,000ft and for at least part of the journey will be escorted by the Spitfire and Hurricane of the Historic Aircraft Collection.

Not sure of the flight plan (somebody will know!) but from Heathrow the flight will journey first to the Isle of Wight and then head up the Channel along the coast – so keep a look out along the south coast from around 2.30 I’d suggest.
