"Battle of Britain" film

Contacted them yesterday, said that they had about 30 hours of out-takes and could put most onto 3 DVD’s for about £100.

I watched some of it last night. You can see why some of the model stuff ended up on the cutting room floor – it didn’t look realistic enough for what the director wanted. Then again, one shot of a Hurricane getting shot up and its cockpit exploding may have been too realistic for the audience to handle at that time.

You could probably get another Battle of Britain movie or two out of the out-takes! 😉

Am I alone in finding that if you search on Spitfire, the first half a dozen pages have thumbnails but from then on out there is no thumbnail, just the WB logo, and there is no preview facility?

No, that’s what I get. For a guess, they’ve catalogued but not yet digitised much of this footage, and will no doubt digitise on demand or in due course. Pathe had a lot catalogued but not yet available (Rotodyne for instance) which became available later.

Yep I watched it, and very good it was too. Shame so much of that great footage was left out of the film, still there should be much more to enjoy over the coming years!

Proctuka?

Was that the Proctuka? I thought it was just another shot of one of the radio controlled model Stukas.

DVD of this programme is being released in September 3 discs,did anyone else notice the”Proctuka” footage yesterday?

Yup. Just as the Pathe site. Dis-engage the pop-up blocker in Norton Anti-Spam and it fixes it.

If it’s a pop-up blocker, I find holding down the CTRL key at the same time as clicking on the image works OK.

Given our previous discussions, quite probably. It seems to be a popup window that opens the QT clip, so if you have popups disabled…

Try one of the example clips. Opens fine incentre of that browser window.

Click on the photo on the left and a window will open, eventually (and I’m on 2Gb broadband) the clip will run. It requires a Quicktime plug-in

I downloaded the latest Quicktime, but already had earlier versions.

I have got 2Gb Broadband.

I click on the image and nothing even after a couple of minutes

Could anything on Norton or Zonealarm be hanging it up?

When you pursue a purchase I think you actually ended up submitting for a quote.

Why would they only supply on tape and not DVD?

Mmm. Mac user with Quicktime on broadband. (That’s why there’s the little QT logo on their home page, o helpless serfs of Microsoft)

I suspect this is going to be expensve for Mr Mk.12 – can’t see a ‘bulk buy’ button!
