I didn’t realise this one was built to taxi in the BofB movie – I thought they were all just static jobs!

Hi,

We have one of the Hurricane replicas built for BoB here at Omaka Aerodrome, in Blenheim, New Zealand.Take a look at the following page

http://www.classicfighters.co.nz/aircraft/hurricanebob.htm

The attached photo was taken at Classic Fighters 2003 (Easter 2003) — the theme of the show was North Africa, so the Hurricane had been painted in a representative North African colour scheme.

A little more work has been done on the aircraft in the past 18 months, in particular in the nose area!

Cheers,
Allan

I’ve just spotted that ill-attired young lady trying to climb in to the cockpit.

What is that all about? 😉

Thanks for the welcome Mark, and of course it’s good to see some of “my” photos again.
Thanks to Septic for the DX shot, and can I also say I like the way the undercarriage thread seems to have reared it’s head again…..I wonder how we can keep this going ?

Not even Miss York’s undercarriage could distract Mark 12.

RST first to assist Miss York into his cockpit, DB (Sorry KM) looks on with envy.

Septic.

Septic,

SM411, one of the ‘Markaddies’ and a taxier.

Three blade DH prop but there seems to be a blade missing?

Memories !
As a late joiner to this site, I’ve only just got back to this thread.
I visited Henlow whilst the aircraft were being prepared, and then Duxford the day after the hangar was blown up…weird feeling walking between “bomb craters” and the debris, Those were the days …or at least some of them

Just for you Old Eagle.

To the sound of the Cavalry

Sorry Trumper, alas no photos. Sold on many years ago !

I had almost a garage full of “aviation” (and I cry now when I think what was in there in terms of photos, books, magazines, etc) and sold them at the behest of my beloved (to a guy working for an airfreight company at East Midlands c1972-3) soon after we were married.

Here I am somewhat later (enjoying?????) hindsight – but at least now with a more understanding mk2 beloved !

Memory : sitting in a He111 looking through the nose perspex at many Buchons – and
yes the photos did come out

Old Eagle,

Here are a couple shots you gave me way back then, and they still have your initials on the reverse.

This is MH415 in BoB distressed livery but with all the significant military bits painted out and the long range ferry tank fitted

It would be circa March 1968 on the very sparse Luton apron prior to departure for Spain for the Tablada filming.

I am still with my ‘Mk 1 beloved’, ruby wedding this past December (big aaaah 🙂 ).

Good to see you on the forum.

As a late joiner to this site, I’ve only just got back to this thread.
I visited Henlow whilst the aircraft were being prepared, and then Duxford the day after the hangar was blown up…weird feeling walking between “bomb craters” and the debris, and even more weird visiting the back of the airfield where “France” was set up. I remember that one real Hurri there was the Shuttleworth (non flyer) as part of the diorama with the mockups..it all felt very real, with the scale chateau in the background.
More memories if anyone wants to PM me, rather than bore all of you with the details
Final comment was that Jeff & Duane arrived Luton in the B25 on one engine – very tired pilots – and used the Monarch hangar for the engine change. I “happened” to be around at airtest time and well remember the flight – sitting in the back (miniskirt area)
with no seat or straps, great even if Jeff was enjoying wing overs beyond the vertical
Those were the days …or at least some of them
