Hi Folks,
I was at a local aviation society last night, when I heard a fleet air arm enthusiast make the bold statement that a large number of naval pilots flew in the Battle of Britain. I know that at least two naval squadrons operated under 13 Group control and a number of naval pilots (such as “Dickie” Cork) flew with RAF Squadrons, but can anyone provide me with more detail, such as:
How many pilots flew within RAF Squadrons during the Battle?
How many naval squadrons came under RAF control during the Battle?
How many naval pilots where entitled to wear Battle of Britain Clasp?
Sorry for the questions, but I do not like sweeping statements!

From memory, one of the FAA pilots was credited with a ‘kill’ in a Martlet, the only non-British aeroplane to be so credited.

I think it was a fair statement – http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/RollofHonour/Battlehonour_crewlists/BattleofBritain_FAAaircrew_1940.html
