Surprised not to see anything about this delightful event here? Anyhoo, it is on the 14/15th…..I believe it has large lumps of Battle of Britain related material from at least 4 forum members in attendance?
Might be a chance for a forum getogether on the Sunday?

Great pictures there tony, is it my eyes or does your Spit have a bit of bank on?
Looks like a really great day, well done for supporting this event and many more in the future.

Also a mention to the mock Scramble that was played out to honor the few, also in honor of the late Ray Holmes,of whom was based at Hendon.and who could forget that battle he had in the skies above the Oval cricket ground on the 15th of September with an in complete German Bomber.
It was incomplete when he’d finished with it anyway. Maybe the RAFM could model their Dornier on what that one looked like when it came down at Victoria station!

Fair point but it is not on everyone’s doorstep. And I was bemoaning the loss of the airshows as much as anything else. But I am glad it was a good weekend there for everyone.
A very enjoyable day yesterday, you cant get much better than having the Central band hammering out the Dambusters tune directly in front of the Lancaster S for Sugar (that flew over 100 ops).

I see elsewhere on this form people are be-moaning the fact that Battle of Britain day isn’t celebrated anymore; well it was at Hendon, and has been for the last 10 years, so, with free entry, and free model kit making sessions for the kids, why didn’t you go there?
You know what they say, “use it or loose it”, well the word is, there might not be one next year, so then you can be-moan the loss of another event,

Im relatively new to the forum and would have attended if there had been more information posted earlier, not that i cant get their but im on crutches and the new partner has still to be introduced to historic aviation well any aviation trips and get to gathers, I think the first time will be legends and or a Hendon visit in 2014.
Still im hoping all thing discussed and photographed will appear on the site somewhere ???

I hope all who go have a great weekend. But it puts me in mind of the BoB airshows of which there seemed to be many in my younger days. Did they slowly falter and die or was there a more specific reason for their ending?
