Part 2 of a few pics taken during our Hebrides trip in sept,we tried to use the ferries as much as poss because it is a great way to see scotland 😀
I wanted to sail from Islay via oban to Lochboisdale but time and weather constraints meant we had to sail back to Kintyre and drive to oban
1…Lismore Lighthouse just out of Oban

:eagerness: Cracking photos from a most beautiful part of the world. Not sure i would have liked the boat trip in the last set LOL.
We stayed up on deck and hung on to the rail,we were ‘taking it green’ sometimes…fabulous LOL…i have not found the pic of happy bedraggled me on the run back into Ulva Ferry. The other pax were really pissed off because they had only booked for Treshnish which was sheltered water, the skipper took us two out to Staffa as a favour and the weather really was on his limit for pax.The others enjoyed seeing the cave but were really pissed off with the open water crossing Treshnish to Staffa ; )

Great photos baz. Thanks for posting. Found the other thread you were talking about too – great detective work there.

The weather was right on the limit for passengers ; )

Some cracking pictures there, Baz.
There’s something compelling about that image of the Islay Ferry.
Thanks GA…any idea who merged my threads ??
It is now just a jumble of out of order pics, text and replies.
I thought that the whalebone was interesting and rare enough to be on its own,now it has disappeared into obscurity.
Do moderators normally merge threads without a prior courtesy msg to the thread starter ?? I was a bit surprised to say the least.
PS… we stayed at one of the old lighthouse keepers houses (B & B) for 3 nights just to the left of the Lighthouse in the Singing Sands pic, beautiful setting 😀
regards baz

Nice shots of Wemyss Bay railway station, not in the Western Isles but about an hour away from Glasgow Central on the coast just south of Greenock (lol). Rothesay on the Isle of Bute isn’t quite part of the Western Isles either, albeit an island off the west coast of Scotland.:D
You’ve been merged but where did your other thread go ?
Hi RF
Other thread is still there, but dont tell the mods, funny I thought that Wemyss Bay Station and A BLUE WHALE JAWBONE ARCH were worlds apart which is why I posted them seperately, one might interest wildlife fans the other (i thought)might interest railway enthusiasts etc.
But then I expect that the moderator who merged them might PM me and tell me the reason for merging… !!!!
I expect the general discussion thread has been overwhelmed with blue whale jawbone arches this week…personally I am bored with them !!!
regards baz

I think whitby has one too,i dont think its from a blue though.
Reading some of the blurb on this one..it was actually cut down (shortened) to make it more stable,it was not harpooned locally, apparently the design of harpoon may have been slightly oriental !!
cheers baz

Wemyss Bay Station/Ferry Terminal (to Rothesay)
On our hebrides trip in sept we used the ferries as much as possible and were rather impressed by this grand old station.
From Rothesay we drove round to Portvadie for the Kintyre ferry, then a short drive to kennacraig for the Islay ferry.
I thought the night shots turned out ok..handheld and fully automatic…not bad for a cheap compact digi !!:D
ignore date /time…we forgot to reset :D:D:D
