BBC ATA Programme

Does anyone recall a programme from the late 80’s/ early 90’s on the women pilots of the ATA? Over the final credits there was shown a wonderful piece of film of a late mark Seafire/Spitfire against a backdrop of stunning clouds accompanied by suitable music. I wondered if anyone knew the origins of this piece of footage and wether it was still available. At the time of the programme I believe there were no late mark Spits flying so this must have been historic footage.

Thanks for the info, though a sad end to my query.

It was the Jock Malloch Mk22 filmed in Rhodesia as it was then. Since he disappeared into cloud and subsequently crashed during a filming sequence it may well be from that. Mark12 may know more.

I still have the programme somewhere in the loft which was made by either BBC South or Meridien, and there were some great moments, like Joan Hughes piloting the Lanc.

This?

Just thrown it in the old video.

It’s colour footage through the clouds of a camouflaged mark 22/24. The log barrelled twin machine guns might tell someone with more knowledge than me exactly which mark.
