“Battle Of Britain”, with Ewan MacGregor, playing on BBC1 this Sunday at 8.30. By the looks of it, lots of footage of PV202, P7350 and LF363.

I’ll be watching the ‘Battle of Britain Uncovered’ programme as I think it will include film shot during the Airfield walk at Middle Wallop I went on.

This is the filming about to start in front of the Bungalow on the airfield that was OC 609 Sqn home (and Sqn dispersal).

And this is the cameraman down the Picket-Hamilton fort on the airfield

Evidently, “Dig 1940” which was to be part of the BBC Battle of Britain season and originally billed as such on the BBC website, has now been dropped from the season. The intention was to put it out on a Mod/Wed/Fri in same week but I gather the availability of TX “slots” during the period was a problem. Thus it has been held over until later and not formally part of the season.
Made by 360Productions on commission for BBC1 I am sure it will be a production worth waiting for if 360’s other programmes are anything to go by!

Superb. That’ll round off my Battle of Britain film session nicely.

And here’s the Wellington in 24 hours film. Not easy to find! I drove past the very factory yesterday. It now builds Airbus wings. The claim that the Wellington went to an operational bomber squadron is understandable propaganda. It actually ended up at an OTU.

Having read the book, First Light interests me, so just in case I miss the timings, can someone keep a heads up on this please?

I think the Wellington bomber footage is/was available on youtube.

There is yet another Battle of Britain documentary up-coming on ITV which is “David Jason’s Battle of Britain”.
I have not got any further details, or TX dates, but I expect an internet trawl will find it.
In addition, at least one other BBC regional BofB documentary will be going out.
A bit like London buses…..at least three come along together!

The Wellington Bomber programme looks interesting
“Wellington Bomber takes a look at a challenge posed by the RAF and the War Ministry during the war – could a Wellington Bomber be built from scratch in a single day?
Combining archive footage of the attempt with testimonials from the workers involved at the time, this fascinating film documents the amazing attempt bolt by bolt.”
