According to BBC reporter Robert Hall (in his lunchtime news report about the Lancaster last Friday), there is supposed to be a programme aired in the BBC Yorks & Lincs/E Midlands (and I think one of the other regions in that area) about the BBMF and their 50th Anniversary, on Friday May the 4th.
I’ve searched the relevent channels in the Sky EPG for it, and can’t find any entry for this programme for that day or before & after!
I’ve checked the various BBC regional websites, but no info there either.
Does anyone here from BBMF know when it’s due to air?
Cheers
Paul

I was one of the lucky ones with Sky and a very good programe indeed.
I too thought it short sighted of the BBC to only show it in the East Midlands area. With it being the BBMF’s 50th it should have been on nationally and not just for the Lincolnshire area and Yorkshire:confused:
I have it on tape but no facilities to put it onto CD.

For those of you not within the Yorks/Lincs region – it was superb!
Thanks for rubbing it in mate! :p 🙂

What I saw of it looked fantastic. I’ll settle down for a proper viewing over the weekend.
If it’s as good as I think, then it’s an absolute travesty that it didn’t get a proper national airing. What are the BBC thinking??

“The Flight”
For those of you not within the Yorks/Lincs region – it was superb! Brilliantly produced, including the unveiling of the new new scheme of PA474 and a few shots of her being re-furbed. Good stuff, brilliantly shot and a good commentary. I agree with snaps – -definitely shiver down the spine stuff.
Only problem is, I haven’t tuned my VCR into the cable set top box! Anyone record it?:o
Chris
PS – bloody sick of the snooker and I live in Sheffield!

This is a wonderful programme – shivers are going down my back – We are proud of the BBMF and we should be.
Well done to everyone involved, in whatever shape or form.

UPDATE
‘The Flight’ on BBC1 E Mids (Sky Ch. 980), Friday 4th May, 7:30pm – 8:00pm. We get BBC1 Yrks&Lin (Sky Ch. 977) by default – it’s been advertised on here, but when I’ve checked the listings, it only shows up on the E Mids Regional Channel.
Autoview now set! Shame it’s only on for half an hour though 🙁
Now listed for 7:30pm on Sky Channels 976 (BBC1 Yorks), 977 (BBC1 Yrks&Lin) & 980 (BBC1 E Mids)

“therefore we felt that this programme would interest viewers in Yorkshire more than viewers elsewhere.”
…reminds us all of those who gave up their lifes to protect all of the UK not just Yorkshire during ww2.
Yea, but Yorkshire’s the best bit!!
😀
BBC north’s area of coverage includes Yorkshire, Lincolnshire and Norfolk… that’s almost half the blinking country… regional telly, tch!

Luckly I’ve got sky so I can see this programme, however what a load of C**p from the BBC, they spend most of their time showing us programmes we don’t want to see, yet they can’t show us the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, which reminds us all of those who gave up their lifes to protect all of the UK not just Yorkshire during ww2.

Emailed the BBC to find out if going to be shown anywhere else. Responce below leaves me even more confused. seems the BBC think Coningsby is in Yorkshire and is part of the East Midlands. 😀
Peter
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the BBC programme ‘The Flight’.
I understand that you would like to enquire why this programme is only being
shown in the East Midlands area and not nationally.
To mark the 50th anniversary of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, cameras
followed the Coningsby-based unit to find out how it keeps Spitfires and
Hurricanes flying, therefore we felt that this programme would interest viewers in Yorkshire more than viewers elsewhere.
Please be assured that your comments have been fully registered on a daily
audience log which is made available throughout the BBC including senior
management and schedulers. Feedback of this nature helps us when making
decisions about future BBC programmes and your comment will play a part in this
process.
Thank you again for taking the time to contact the BBC.
Regards
Jonathan Dunlop

That’s probably because RAF Coningsbury is in the East Midlands :diablo:
And RAF Coningsby is in lincolnshire so it does seem a strange choice of channels to show the programme on.;)

Thanks chaps.
As it was mentioned it would be on in at least three neighbouring regions, I only checked Yorks & Lincs, thinking it’s bound to be on that one, seeing as the BBMF are based in the latter county!
How wrong could I have been!
Cheers

Pah, bloody regional TV! I thought there was going to be something national by the BBC for the 50th this year?
Yes, it would be nice Lancman.
However, for those who have Sky (and I assume from your post you don’t) the BBC regions are all on the EPG (they start from about 970 I think), whilst the ITV regions sadly are not on the main EPG, but can still be watched if you know how. 😉
Cheers
