Hi YakRider.
Good to hear you’re OK.
Its right what you say, aeroplanes can be fixed. Sorry to hear about the zoom suit, A&E did the same to me last year, only they cut off £750 worth of racing leathers and £350 worth of crash helmet. But like you say, still around to talk about it.
Well done again.

Moggy – wheels firmly up.
YR

As in the handbook.

But I did always wonder if it should happen, whether I would have been tempted to try a precautionary-style landing with the gear extended. After all I was operating from grass anyway.

I suppose it would largely have depended on the length of field available to me and my perception of the quality of the surface.

Thankfully I never had to make the decision. Sadly it is unlikely that I will in the forseeable future. (It’d be worth it to be back in a YAK)

Moggy – wheels firmly up. In the situation, wheels down would have complicated things too much and greatly increased the risk of flippping over.

A certain young lady did smuggle a bottle of Old Peculier into my side ward on Saturday, but I didn’t feel up to drinking it, or eating the accompanying stick of Southend Rock! I’ve got those to look forward to.

The other downside is the A&E cut off all my flying gear, which was just reaching a nicely oily, used state. So, apart from sewing on all the velcro again, it has got to be given that weathered look again (after it has been replaced).

Well done and glad you are OK.

I haven’t followed all the press reports avidly, we know what a source of bollox they can be..

Did you land gear up or gear down?

Moggy (Who always wondered which he’d go for if the big radial ever stopped humming)

YR

Really glad to read that you are ok, we were quite concerned (please dont do it again).

I really have to say this now, a good landing is one you can walk away from (eventually) if you can use the aircraft again its a bonus, I bet no-one else has said that to you in the last few days eh! eh! 😀

Anyway, there is a beer in the pump at OW with your name on it when we next meet. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Cheers
Nick
