BBC Global warming deceit

The BBC’s TV ‘flagship’ program, Africa, presented by the venerable David Attenborough, has been forced to issue a retraction regarding the program’s claim that climate change in the continent of Africa had produced a temperature increase of 3.5 degrees Celsius over the preceeding 20 years.

The BBC now admit that this was untrue, speculative and entirely without supporting evidence and the quote has been withdrawn.

One speculatively wonders how many of the other claims regarding climate change made by the BBC are equally spurious.

Well each to his own, I suppose – thank goodness we have so much choice these days thereby obviating the necessity to rely on the once fabled BBC!

Choice, who needs choice when you have the BBC ?? The Corporation has done a fantastic job for 80 or so years……..

Choice does not bring quality, far from it.

Well I think the BBC does a fantastic job of bringing us the news. I am so proud that it is a BRITISH institution. Like any organisation peopled with humans I am sure the odd mistake occurs but I TRUST the BBC.

Some people say it has a “left” bias, can’t say I have ever noticed it……..

Well said John.

To suggest that the BBC or any U.S. media organization will present both sides of this story equally is just nonsense. If there were any attempt to even pretend to be objective about it then they wouldn’t declare “There is no debate” or “The debate is settled” like they often do in order to shut down dissent or debate.

My favorite is “The science is settled.” :p

program called Question Time.

Thus, is the once mighty BBC fallen. Thus, is the mighty BBC once famed for its truth, impartiality and academic rigour. now plunged into disrepute, its reputation in tatters and shreds. Thank Heaven, that most of us realise this and treat whatever the BBC says with extreme scepticism.

Yes indeed but sadly those days were long ago. I “signed out” of the BBC website ages ago but I am not so sure “most of us” applies, judging by the sheer volume of links to the BBC website posted on this forum.

Re 38

I hope that I’m not being objectionable when I write that you are either deluded or do not, genuinely know, just how partisan the BBC is. The BBC is a predominently left wing organisation. This is not a secret, it is known to politician and jourrnalist alike and many in the BBC will readily admit to a biased left wing agenda.

The left wing agenda of any organisation is generally opposed to dissent – it is not tolerated. The BBC, true to its left bias on matters to do with the EU, climate change and education presents only ‘evidence’ with a left wing slant. If the BBC permits comment by the ‘opposition’ to be aired or published, it means those comments will be rubbished and made to appear valueless and without merit. Further proof of this will be found on the weekly BBCTV program called Question Time.

The BBC are adroit and cunning. The offending statistic in the David Attenborough ‘Africa’ program was inserted at the end of the program and the end of the series. The hope was that the statistic would go unnoticed and unchallenged and thus join the mass of left wing lies, evasions and untruths and being unchallenged would pass into authenticity and peer acceptance.

Unhappily for the BBC, this time they came unstuck. Sundry academics and members of the public noticed this lie and challenged the BBC to substantiate their claim. They could not. All of this follows hard on the heels of the wholly despicable charade of manufactured and doctored ‘evidence’ commissioned by the Center for Clmate Change and the University of East Anglia. All so-called evidence based on computer hypotheses resulting from an input of highly imaginative, make believe data and all, accepted unquestioningly by the BBC.

If you follow the revelations in the links and the tribunal process, it reveals that at an institutional level BBC were prepared to ignore a whole raft of other views and stick to its own predetermined line on global warming. This is bad enough for that topic, but the most worrying aspect is that this process is most likely being applied to other news and current affairs.

It’s been predicted to be here NOW! In any case current or forecast tiny warmings are but a blip on the road to the next ice-age since we are thought to be in an interglacial period now. So watch out for extensive ice sheets again in 30/50,000 years. That should finish off a good chunk of the global population.

How true Charlie.

While so many of these GW alarmists are busy preparing for a time they would never live to see, most of them will die of preventable disease, accidents in the home, heart attacks, a fall down the stairs, auto accidents, gunshot wounds (U.S. citizens only!) or being hit by a car. To those future generations that will prepare for GW I would just say, be sure you have a nice warm coat.

On a related note, I see where some large chunks of global warming came down in Russia yesterday. We should have done something to prevent that.

Or in a swarm of nuclear mushroom clouds 😀

Or an asteroid plume. 🙂

Seriously, the lower classes will bring down society…demanding more (unworked for) resources.
Eventually, taxpayers won’t be able to deliver the expected goods and anarchy wil result.

My Quote:
I’m with Moggy, this doesn’t affect me and never will.

Maybe it will, maybe it won’t but “sure as little eggs is little eggs” it will affect all our children and grandchildren.

Planemike

You mean YOUR children and grandchildren I presume? If GW is going to have any bearing on my life it better get here right quick. So unless it’s now predicted to arrive in the next decade then I’m quite confident that GW will have no effect on my time remaining. GW alarmists, fear-mongers and scam artists may try to have an effect, but I know how to deal with them.

How so ?? I am sure the BBC presents both views equally.

Global warming is a very serious problem which we ignore at our peril. The human race is living on borrowed time.

Planemike

If it only it did.

Man made or not, that’s just an opinion, of course, and one with which many eminent people disagree. And if it is not man-made there is nothing man can do to prevent it. And in a sense mankind has been on borrowed time since we evolved. One way or another mankind will perish, most probably from natural causes.

Since 2006 BBC decided to shut out any counter views and allow only those views supportive of the global warming themes. So real evidence which might have exposed those spurious claims or put forward more plausible science, has been suppressed. Leaving out vital information is as bad as giving a one-sided view only.

In any event, the backdrop of Nature is too vast and man’s efforts to puny to justify taxing ourselves into penury for the sake of what I can describe only as a spectacular naivety.

This sums it up brilliantly. Simple, concise, and true. In the U.S. we have no shortage of people who are perfectly willing and in fact doing their best to try and penalize and tax us to death with their green scams. Some of them actually believe it, a few of them are making huge sums of money from it.

The U.S. might well be duped into crippling our business and industry with taxes, tariffs, and regulations but China and other players will never go along with such economic suicide. Our nation is on a fast track to collapse, we can’t even provide basic services for much of our population and it’s going to get much worse in the coming weeks. This is just man’s folly, man’s arrogance that he can control things on a universal scale when in fact most of us can’t even control things at the personal or local level.

I’m with Moggy, this doesn’t affect me and never will.

Steven wh

“….Leaving out vital information”….

How very true. As soon as one ‘cherry picks’, the validity of any case you make in support of the subject, is then suspect. Those of us who keep an eye on these things know full well that the BBC – in defiance of and in breach of its Charter – is not impartial. Not just on matters of climate change but, a whole host of other matters that I won’t mention – unless challenged, because I do not wish to widen the debate.

If, as many do, believe that it is the natural evolution of the planet then there is nothing we can do about and so no point in worrying about it. It will go through hundreds more warmings and hundreds more coolings, mini and major ice-ages, before the one thing we know for sure is that the planet will eventually die as the sun dies.

It is difficult to trust an organisation that goes to the lengths evident in the ’28gate’ case, to avoid responding to a simple Freedom of Information request on the attendees at a key global warming policy meeting.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/comment/columnists/christopherbooker/8901365/The-BBCs-hidden-warmist-agenda-is-rapidly-unravelling.html

The attendee list is extraordinary, being a mix of environmental activists, renewables industry representatives, Church of England, US embassy, BBC heads of drama, children’s programmes, political programmes, and the head of comedy. Only three of the attendees were contributing scientists. No wonder BBC was embarrassed about it.
http://omnologos.com/full-list-of-participants-to-the-bbc-cmep-seminar-on-26-january-2006/

Nor is it easy to trust an organisation that is so easily open to influence by external vested interests.

By keeping the heat turned up on what I beleve is the fiction of man made global warming (pun intended) climatologists and others mantain their vital flow of funding from governments who have been manipulated by alarmist reporting and therefore kid themselves that they have to be seen to be doing ‘something’. That ‘something’ being way beyiond their means or control.

Yes, that is at the root of the whole sorry enterprise. Can you imagine the amount of humble pie ( pork preferably ) which would have to be eaten by the majority of the world’s leders if they denied the whole thing. It would certainly save you and me a fortune on our energy bills, although as coal fired power stations have already been consigned to scrap courtesy of the EU, it might be too late!!
