The BBC’s TV ‘flagship’ program, Africa, presented by the venerable David Attenborough, has been forced to issue a retraction regarding the program’s claim that climate change in the continent of Africa had produced a temperature increase of 3.5 degrees Celsius over the preceeding 20 years.
The BBC now admit that this was untrue, speculative and entirely without supporting evidence and the quote has been withdrawn.
One speculatively wonders how many of the other claims regarding climate change made by the BBC are equally spurious.

It is based on a recognition that the contemporary left wing is free from any taint associated with the pursuit of excellence, ambition and civic and personal responsibility.
And with that one sentence, proof positive that you are capable of posting the highest quality garbage I think I have ever seen. Something to be proud of.

And that’s your ‘critical analysis’, is it?
What a very individual interpretation.
I was referring to all of my posts under the ‘BBC deceit’ ttopic.

Comedy gold! 😀
Do you know what the funniest thing about that paranoid ‘reds under the bed’ rant is, John?
It’s that you clearly sincerely believe every word of it.

The ‘far left’ brotherhood who constitute the ‘left wing’ bias of the BBC and the other departments I mentioned. That is who ‘they’ are. I am no conspiracy theorist and my conspirometer measures no activity.
The above statement is based upon a recognition of the left wing pursuit of medocrity, as well as actions related to an established doctrinal agenda of political beliefs.
It is based on a recognition of the left wing belief in the breakdown of the established empirical order of society and subsequent re-modelling in their warped and distorted political mould.
It is based on a recognition that the contemporary left wing is free from any taint associated with the pursuit of excellence, ambition and civic and personal responsibility.
All of this is aided and abetted by the retreat of right wing politicians from the political fray. We do not anymore possess a political ‘right’. In this country now the consensus is ‘left of center’. The ‘right’ have retreated and are now seemingly afraid to put their ‘head above the parapet’.
So, ‘left wingery rules’ – not ok.
To answer your question, that is whom ‘they’ are.

We must be talking about different posts. I see no critical analysis in post #311, just (presumably) copyrighted material copied from a US magazine.
(The first line is: … “Another great topic for BBC to cover would be the new iceage scare of the seventies, where almost exactly the same rhetoric was used for global cooling as gets used for global warming.” Alluding to the lack of BBC coverage or even awareness of the great global cooling scare where the climate scientists got it wrong. The image is web linked with the full web reference acknowledged.)

BBC has been forced to back down in other cases regarding global warming.
Lord Monckton had to force BBC in court to get them to correct errors in a programme on global warming in which he featured.
I sued the BBC a couple of years ago when they did a hatchet job on me. I had been told – in writing – that I should have the chance to alter any points that were inaccurate. Fat chance.
I insisted on seeing the programme before it was broadcast. It was a disgrace. I wrote to the Director-General listing two dozen factual errors and numerous other biases in the schlocumentary. No reply.
So I lodged a High Court application for an injunction. The BBC’s first reaction was to deny that the director-general’s office had received my letter. Not having been born yesterday, I had delivered the letter myself and had insisted that the director-general’s personal assistant should sign for it.
The BBC crumbled and cut the programme from 90 minutes to an hour, taking out the overwhelming majority of the vicious nonsense.

This is the first post where I have offered an extensive critical analysis of BBC’s position on global warming.

Which post were you referring to?
Heaven alone knows how they’ve managed so successfully to infiltrate not only the BBC but also Education, the Justice system and most comprehensively of all, the Civil Service.
‘They’?
Who are ‘they’, John?

Re 313
it is hardly surprising that you think that steven wh is in a minority.
John – not surprised but delighted. My point was that he is in a minority being one of those who have been and are critical of the BBC and who, rarely, if ever, uses the BBC as the source of their information quoted. I am also a member of that minority, as made clear in my post.

The poster in question has had a pop at the BBC in several of the postings they have made since they joined, with varying degrees of relevance. It seemed a perfectly reasonable comment to make.

… I have done no analysis but based on my impression of the links posted by members on any number of topics, BBC links predominate. I am agnostic, at best, about the BBC, and highly critical at worst, and given that it is financed out of the public purse we have every right to criticise it where we see fit.
Exactly.
Especially when the topic of the post is on a failure of its Charter.

You really do have a thing about the BBC, don’t you?
A Murdoch employee, by any chance?

It has been written before and here it is again: Those of us who take a ‘pop’ at the BBC do so because the sometimes deceitful actions of the BBC and their proven propensity to tell lies makes them a highly visible target.
That after all, is the title of this subject.
If enough of us complain loudly and frequently, we might be instrumental in getting the BBC to change their ways, start telling the truth, stop telling lies and stick to the terms of their Charter.
To accomplish that, they will have to lever out the lefties. It is the left wing bias of the BBC that is causing all the trouble. Every political commentator on this planet knows that to be a fact.
Heaven alone knows how they’ve managed so successfully to infiltrate not only the BBC but also Education, the Justice system and most comprehensively of all, the Civil Service.

I’m not the only person to have noticed or remarked on this, as you would know if you’d taken the trouble to read through the thread.
He is quite entitled to take a ‘pop’ at the BBC if he so desires, after all this thread is about the BBC isnt it ??
BTW I have read through the thread – but interesting that you should pick him up for having a ‘POP’ at the BBC but not thank him for reminding us of a time back in the 70’s when the scientists were giving us impending dire ice age warnings LOL
Presumably the BBC in your eyes are beyond reproach and up there as paragons of virtue with the EU 🙂
By: Grey Area - 2nd March 2013 at 15:27
WTF do the Ice Age scare stories from the 70’s have to do with having a thing about the BBC Lance ?

Given that this Forum seems to be populated by hordes of impressionable, jump-on-any-bandwagon lefties, it is hardly surprising that you think that steven wh is in a minority.
As I’ve before commented, he presents his arguments cogently and solidly in a way that is perhaps unappreciated by some readers. By my count, there are a number on this subject who chime with his views. I’m one of them.
He’s not perfect – that, belongs to me and you/you and I (specially for derekf)

Good commonsense comment !
And here! Right on cue: “Yes, our winters are getting colder”, according to the Met Office. Every winter since 2007/8 has been colder than average. A spokeswoman says: “The recent trend does suggest there are NATURAL CYCLES that influence our weather (my capitals).
So, there you have it, dramatic first time news and information (not) revealing the inside story on the global warming/climate change hysteria.

I remember it well, and indeed have mentioned the dire Ice Age warnings on here before – a few years ago…It was definitely the ‘In Thing’ for a while !!
I take any journalism (inc BBC) with a pinch of salt – as I do Politicians of any party.
Not sure why you are so anti Stephen_wh ?
In his last post he was just reminding you to be cautious as regards ‘scientists’ and their ‘theories’ !
The whole green energy thing has become a complete mess and one of the biggest money making/taxing scams I have ever seen.
