Thought that ‘rang a bell’!! Just had a look on G-INFO to confirm and the Auster is a Terrier 2 – G-ASMZ. Owned by Robert Burden from 1990 to 2000. ‘MZ is now based at Eggesford in Devon and flies as VF516 it’s original identity.

The Cyprus 114 scheme is quite bland by Chipmunk standards! The Gatow Station Flight grey would have been different ! I wonder if G-APLO will now apply for a dispensation to wear full RAF black with roundels added now!

i got a few hours in that old thing when i was on BBMF – bloody marvelous….

There are plenty of Red/White/Grey and Silver/Yellow Chippies on the UK civil register; these two should stand out from the rest.

My vote is for silver with yellow trainer bands – just like the Airfix Chippie…..

something that struck me with this scheme and the Duxford Vampite T11 scheme – does dayglo paint have a “life” (I know it’s not radioactive….) and does it eventually fade -even if kept indoors – as opposed to fading caused by weathering

It would be very nice to see her on static display somewhere this year. Love the efforts made by the BBMF team on her to bring this scheme back to life.

I am pretty sure I got a ride in this Chippy with Cambridge UAS back in the 70s. I need to check!

They look even nicer in silver/yellow but I too am very pleased to see she has been repainted from that drab/boring black scheme 🙂

So much nicer than the awful black schemes. I also like the white, red and black training colours that used to be used.
