Might be better to run it down with a forklift I think, my car has plastic wings which I don’t think will stand up to an emu.
By: EN830 - 18th June 2007 at 20:04
OK, we have snipers on the roof now, I am told by one of our criminal lawyers that it is not illegal to shoot an emu that is out on its own.
If you run it over, can you stop and pick it up. Or do you need to leave it to the next person to come along with a forklift ?

the EMU was last seen chasing Michael Parkinson around Jumbo.

No need to 🙂

Had the Red Arrows fly over the area for the third time in a month. (FA Cup, Queens birthday and Falklands). Could just about see the helicopters in the distance through my binoculars, same for the Dominies and Herc’s. The rest of the formation inluding the Red’s flew over Northolt again.
I did laugh at what Dan Snow said about the Sea Harriers especially as they had 5 WW2 single engined fighters fly over the day before with no problem and the Reds seem to have no problem every year.
I know why they didn’t have Sea Harriers flying over, but why didn’t they have GR.9’s fly over to represent the Harriers used in the conflict. GR.3’s were used in the conflict so this would have been appropriate.

BBMF came into Southend Lanc had a bit of a bouncer so had to make a go-arround…
Not that I am complaining!
The reason the BBMF came into Southend was due to crosswinds at MSE where they were ment to be.
Is there a Video off the Falklands flypast at all?

In which case, I appologise, I obviously missed that bit and agree with your sentiments entirely.
As for Yak 11, the EMU was last seen chasing Michael Parkinson around Jumbo.

you will see a lovely bit of filming of a Colchester bound EMU
I am rather concerned about this, is this Emu loose on the streets of Colchester, I am looking for it from my office window but can’t see any unusual sized birds pounding the streets (other than the usual…..). If I do spot it I will take a picture and post it somewhere.

I thought that Mrs T looked a bit of a sad old thing, the only person who seemed to attempt to talk to her was Prince Andrew, a proper veteran, I didn’t like the way that Blair kept his distance from her, I was never a Thatcherite or Royalist, but certain people did their bit and others should appreciate that, I do.
I’m not pro Blair, but credit where it’s due, he greeted her quite warmly, and was chatting to her for a short while at the beginning. I also believe that at the stone laying ceremony earlier in the week, Blair and his wife helped her to walk to the memorial to pay her respects. So it’s probably not fair to knock him in this instance.
But I couldn’t help thinking that back in 1982 the UK had a mandate to go into the Falkland Isle’s and, arguably, return them to their rightful sovereignty. The same could be said about 1991 and the first Gulf War.
However I wonder how Blair felt sat there watching the commemorations, knowing that he has sent troops to fight a war in Iraq which, to all intents and purposes, he has done so, illegally, and on the back of a lie.
I mean no disrespect to our forces fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. I support everyone single one of them in the difficult tasks they have been forced to fulfil. However I can’t help wondering if they will be accorded the same honours in 25 years time ?

You’d have had a stonking view in Finchingfield – they came just a little south of Great Sampford, low and in formation. lovely!
Adrian
If I’d known that, we could have met up for a pint at the Fox and watched it.

Is your Native American name *Two Anoraks Spotting* by any chance?
😀 😀 😀 😀
I was wearing my shorts and tee shirt actually, the anorak stayed on the coat hook, yes, I have got one, though it’s a posh designer thingy passed down to me by my son, he understands the significance and won’t touch it anymore.
If I could find the lead to transfer my video on to here, you will see a lovely bit of filming of a Colchester bound EMU with the Reds appearing in the distance, nice one.
I did chortle over that comment about the Sea Harriers, I found the whole thing quite moving though, especially as I happen to be reading Vulcan 607 at the moment. Unfortunately we were having a fathers day bash in the garden and although I kept nipping into the living room to watch bits of it, I couldn’t seriously concentrate on the progamme, which was a shame.
By the time the flypast was coming up, father in law and I were well into the wine and his tales of escaping from the Russians and East End gangsters were getting quite interesting, but I forced myself to stumble in front of the telly and watch it.

Well, talk of being in the wrong place.
It was a surprise to me that they came over Braintree, she said the earth shook, says a lot about me!
Cest la vie chaps.

If anyone in this area wants a good view of the flypast, I reccomend the railway bridge at Feering near Kelvedon, I go every year.
It’s quite an elevated position in otherwise flat countryside, and you can watch the trains while you’re waiting, tee hee.

Ollie the Lancaster didn’t take part today
Typo, Saturday.
By: EN830 - 17th June 2007 at 20:17
I watched the flypast on Sunday fly past at a distance at North Weald. The Lancaster aparently returned later, in the middle of a storm.

Dan Snow – Classic
The reason the Sea Harriers aren’t taking part is that they are single engined fighters and considered to be too unreliable to be flown over London.
Better tell the Red Arrows – they just stonked over Royston in a southerly direction around 20 minutes ago – Loadsa potential there for single engine stoppages…:dev2:
