BBMF in 2020

I was just thinking, BBMF obviously had a very precluded season due to the dreaded lurgy and was wondering what hours the flights aircraft had done based on an average display season ?

The Lancaster must be way down, I think she was limited to 40 hours per season unless that has changed in recent time, the fighters have been around, I have seen them pass me a couple of times over the summer here in Essex.

Anyone here have knowledge of the hours, I guess it allows for and extended time on overhauls as was not the Lancaster due another major to be carried out by ArCo at Duxford sometime in the near future and was it spar replacement?

Any info greatly received

Lancaster due in to Duxford for a Minor Servicing. Major Servicing due around 2025, as it’s an eight year cycle.

Yes, that’s it the tailplane , I wonder if the low hours of this year could put that off for one more season?

‘Just Jane’ at East Kirkby was to have her tail section off this winter as part of the return to flight restoration, its been the wingtips over the past 10 months or so which has taken far longer as the originals were is a very poor state, well poor for being airworthy.

Look up Neville Weeldon on YouTube he is doing some fantastic job on Just Jane’s continuing rectification works.

John Dibbs (photographer) posted this on Oct 2nd on his fb page

”This week has been bucket-list worthy. I undertook Aerial Direction and filming of the Lancaster with the BBMF – a dream come true… This was definitely worth a 14 day quarantine!

We filmed over the Derwent Dam for Lancaster The Feature Documentary, it is truly an emotional and inspiring shoot. To be there, capturing such an iconic event from history, being played out for the screen to share with the film’s audience will stay with us all forever.

Aerial filming is a team effort. I took this picture from the Squirrel B3 helicopter expertly flown by Will Banks of theThe Aerial Film Company Jim Swanson on the controls as DOP.

Big thank-you also to everyone at the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight (Official), an amazing team of great people. Also the Directors of the documentary David Fairhead, Ant Palmer of Tallboy Productions. It was great to have the creative team that made the Spitfire documentary back together

You won’t want to miss Lancaster: The Feature Documentary coming out next year. Stay tuned for updates! ”

Lancaster flew down the Derwent Dams again on Thursday. Think that’s twice in a fortnight.
