Is it that time of the year again….my usual question – does anyone know when the Lanc will be up doing it’s practice circuits and bumps and displays this year. Always a good time for photography opportunities.
much appreciated as always,
best wishes

Thanks for the info chaps, I asked about it possibly being a later mod as I thought the usual location of the flare chute on wartime Lancs was a tube just behind the bomb bay?

Flare chute is still in situe, and used to drop poppies and occasionally ashes apparently. Refurbished during the last major service.

She would have had the flare chute installed when she was built. Now that I said that, it most likely was removed during testing phase of her flying career..

Thanks for the ultra-swift reply Stormin’, it was one of the ideas that crossed my mind- although it’s also worryingly close to the Elsan! 🙂 Do you happen to know if she was built with it or is it a later mod?

Flare chute, not used for such any more but it is what you first see when you look in the door.

I was just looking at the 2008 display dates on the BBMF website and one on July 5th caught my eye:
“Vulcan Flypast”
Does anyone know about a potential Lancaster/Vulcan sortee or am I just reading too much into it?

Lovely- even a ‘poor’ photo can warm the old heart, just to know she’s been up and about again.

Not a very good shot as she was quite high and going away from me but this is her over Woodhall Spa returning to Coningsby about 12:10 today after the air test.
Currently can here what sounds like the MkXIX doing an air test just north of me but haven’t been able to get a view of it yet.

Hello, having spoken to the fine gentlemen of The Battle Of Britain Memorial Flight I hear that the Lanc could be airtested on monday (depending on weather). Hope this helps. Think once its flying it will probably get some hammer, so the crews can practice.

Well she had ground runs yesterday, I took a bit of footage, I just hope they got her covered up before the hail came 😉 😀
So it shouldn’t be long, it’s a nice sunny day today 😉 😀 lol (well it was, it’s gone cloudy now)
thanks Lincoln, if anyone does know the date/s time for the practice displays etc it would be greatly appreciated.
