Hi all,
I’m new to this forum but have been interested in avaition amongst other forms of powered transport for as long as I can remember.
I thought I would ask the members of this forum a question. For many years I have noticed that the tail fins of the BBMF Lancaster seem different from those in pictures taken during/after WW2, they are also different to those fitted to Lancaster NX611. The difference being a very slightly squared off shape on the lower trailing edge. It might be my eyes but the same shape fin can be seem on the Lincoln, my question is, has PA474 been fiited with Lincoln fins sometime in the past and if so why?
Cheers,
Mark.

Late production Lancasters were fitted with the Lincoln type fin/rudder anyway, being built in 1945 I would say that PA474 was constructed with them, but certainly had them from early on.

Cheers Archer I should have done a search before posting, its seems the ‘swap out’ doesn’t end with the fins either!
