Coltishall 19 September 1970
Aaaarrrrggghhhhhhh…….. 🙁
And some people on here look down their noses at me when I take piccies of Tornados…
DamienB,
This is a bit of a puzzle.
I cannot account for why I would have the single slide of P7350. At that time I was using a single camera, an Exacta Varex IIb, new to me but old and interesting. Slides were not my preferred choice, I was, and still am, a print in the hand man, any size will do. Apart from the cost of colour then, b/w was my main medium. Colour prints from slide were appalling and this is pre the cybachrome process that changed all that.
All I can think of is that I had the tail end of a slide film in the camera and changed to b/w up at the live holding area. I seem to remember I was driven up there to take the shots of this and the Hurricane and it was probably best not to show too much interest in the Lightnings at that time.
Here is another broader shot showing more of said Lightnings and I note the sticking shutter.

Eagerly awaiting a new thread with those on then… don’t dare tell us you didn’t expend any of that colour film on those beauties!
Oh Gosh!
I hang my head in shame.
Nope didn’t give them a second glance.
I only noticed they were there when I got the results back from Kodak.
There is a moral there.

Regarding the Photo of Carolyn Grace and her Spitfire,i daresay if someone is looking down they would be VERY proud. It is a very reflective and poigniant photo,i like the reflections in the pilots visor photo as well.
It made me think of this photo, taken by Shorty01 and posted in this thread:

Just a few more from the BBMF servicing at Kemble through the 1970’s. Including an MOD promo shot taken of the “Arrows” in the local area with the Lanc and the Heinkel 111 that the 5MU SFS did for the RAF Museum. Happy Days!

19th September 1970 – RAF Coltishall
Look at all those noisy silver front line interceptors.
Yes…….wonderfull arn’t they… 😀
Although, (dropping into pendant mode  ) these, being F1A’s, had already long been relegated to non-front line training duties with the resident 226 OCU.
And they weren’t even 10 years old by then………..some marks of Spits must have seen longer front line service than that….. 😮
