i cannot remember how long it is since I last saw a low back IVI fly, she will make a very different sight. How many are there flying over here now?
Only one in the UK (TD248) but the Swedes have RW386. SL721 flies in Canada; TE356 and TE476 are kept airworthy at Evergreen and Fantasy of Flight respectively, but I think that’s it.

Back to the original thread of the BBMF sixth Spitfire it is worth remembering that the build/rebuild? of the wings for this aircraft was paid for by The Lincolnshire Lancaster Association (LLA)
.
Ouch!

Sorry but that statment is wrong LLA have put in about 100k over the last ten years to the project paying for the refurb of frame 5, the fin unit, engine bearer and 30k of the total for the installation of mod 502 to the wings, wing fuel tanks. Without their help TE would not be as she is today
Glad to know we’ve helped you out with her Paul.
Hats off to you and the boys in the BBMF hanger, you’ve done a superb job
with TE.
Cousin and I have watched her slowly take shape over the past 6-7 years when we’ve been over for the LLA Members Days.
It’s been facinating to look her over “at close quaters” and watch her go
from a primered fuselage with a sparesly fitted and furnished cockpit to
what she is today.
She’ll look and sound fantastic in the air with MK no doubt.

How about selling some of these Spitfires and getting another Hurricane into the air with the fleet? 😉

This association has in the pass funded many important projects for BBMF.
Well done to all the members many of them come from places milesl away from Coningsby and Lincolnshire.

How about selling PS915 & use the money to have the 21 rebuilt to fly & join BBMF in its place?

Is that the spit from cottsermore (dodgy spelling) that’s in the bbmf at the moment ?

i appreciate they did it in their spare time but there are a/c that have been beautifully restored by volunteers that look fantastic.
A crooked, upside down fin flash is quite a small faux pas wouldn’t you say? Compared to say, using it as a range target?

With a refueling stop in Holland? 😀
As for scruffy markings, given the attrition and time constraints I doubt the Erks were all that precious at the time.

Quite comfortable! Certainly good enough for the likes of me to daydream in one lunch time at Wittering!
Berlin and back?

I have seen fibre glass replicas look better than that. The markings look like those awful ones you get on cheap model kits! whats she like in the cockpit?

Here is one I ‘Spotted’ earlier.
LA255 at Cottesmore in 2007, for some years with a black 7 Squadron code…of Bomber Command.
Perhaps another of those ‘pranks’ to fool Spotters. 🙂

Fair enough. Still prefer it elsewhere. Thankfully I was lucky enough to visit it whilst it was at its previous home. It’d be nice to think the 1 Sqn Association may possibly consider placing it in the public view in future, particularly with one of the future basing possibilities in mind!:D
WADR, from my understanding of the situation the Association lost that debate about 10 months and 1 week ago!! 🙁
