It was a superb evening — thank you very much to everybody involved. The pride that everybody on the Flight takes in their work is plain to see and I think I speak for all in saying how much we appreciate it.

I fear I may have acquired a callsign after a close encounter with a Spitfire cannon 🙂

The East Kirkby taxi runs were excellent too. That was the first time I’ve been, but I’ll be going back.

Like many, it was quite trek to get there – knackered by the time I got home – but well worth it. The visit to East Kirkby was superb as was the evening with the BBMF – thanks guys for a superb visit. It was great to meet some more members of the forum (thanks for your company throughout the day) and afternoon tea at the Petwood Hotel was rather nice! Thanks also to Guzzineil for his services as Tour Guide! I won’t bother to post any of my pictures as undoubtedly there will be far superior efforts soon, judging by the hardware on display!

Sounds like the BBMF put on a good evening for you all..
enjoyed meeting up for the first half of the day and showing off what perhaps I now take take for granted.. next time hopefully more will be ‘open’! 😀 and next time maybe i’ll hire a minibus rather than try to keep a 7 car convoy together! 😀

It was a great evening from both a social and engineering aspect.

My group was showed round by a very knowledgeable and enthusiastic airframe fitter. Alas, I didn’t get her name, but I would like to give a personal thanks for a very enjoyable evening, and to all of the staff that run the event. They are doing a fantastic job, and the aircraft couldn’t be in better hands. My Grandfather was a Lancaster mechanic, and it was particularly special to spend some time inside the aircraft.

p.s. Am very jelouse of their day job! Would trade any day….where do I apply?

Big thank you to _everyone_ involved, especially Andy Lynch who showed our group around. Been watching the BBMF since I was a little kid in the 1970’s and to actually get on board the Lancaster was fantastic.
