Hi guys, as you may know, I’m off to Barcelona for a day next week, while the main purpose of my trip is finding a tout, getting into the Nou Camp, and testing Pubs, I may well have a couple of hours at El Prat (don’t you just love name dropping? ;)) to try and get some pictures of planes. Basically, I’m due in around 9am next Thursday, but the guy I’m rooming with dosen’t get in till about noon , so I’m wondering if anyone knows if there are any good vantage points either in or very near the terminal (as I’ll have an overnight bag), possibly even before Immigration (Or will I just get lifted by the Police for loitering?) Or should I just head straight off to find a Pub?
I land at Terminal A. Return flight is on Friday Afternoon, 2:55pm, also from Terminal A. Any info about spotting opportunities in the departure area? (ie is it worth while checking in a lot earlier and trying to find a lounge to take pics from?)

yes you can walk all the way down the terminal front at BCN and log all aircraft other than some on remote stands. But i think you will not be able to get back up there once you have collected your baggage. Other than that i cannot help. There is however a small museum down but at the far (domestic) end of the terminal which has a large collection of models etc and overlooks the area there most of the bizjets and smaller Iberia/Air Nostrum aircraft were parked (DHC-8, FK50, CRJ etc). Very vague but i hope it is of use to you!

Although it will in fact now rely on my getting out an appearance at Glasgow Sheriff Court on the day of the match !:(

kewl. Well, if you make it, Allan, I should be quite easy to spot… I’ll be the one wearing green and white hoops… 😉

With Hand here, from what I remember the terminal layout is one long thin pier with access on one side and big windows out onto the apron on the other end, with a few piers coming off it every so often forming little cul-de-sacs. You can see most of the airport from the windowed areas I think, although it was a while since I was last there 🙂

BCN has very large windows and plane spotting is quite good there.
