Yep, low’n’slow fine to use photo on Biggles website.

I used to visit Sywell fairly frequently in the days I was single and travelled the country extensively!!

In fact my first visit to Sywell was when a friend took me on my first visit to Old Warden about 1963. I remember Mr. Jordan’s Stearman, G-AROY was on the apron and I took a colour slide of it with my Kodak 44a – I wish I could find that slide.

Was it like this Roger?

….and she is now back home at Sywell under rebuild and will hopefully fly next Spring 🙂

Or sooner, if we didn’t keep finding other old relics to fix!! 😉

Baldeagle, Roger, would you mind if I put your pictures on our Biggles Biplane website – with appropriate name checks?

Roger as you were obviously a Sywell devotee, here’s another one, taken from the opposite side of the hangar at about the same time!

can anyone fill me in on the history?

Hi Sadsack

If you check out www.biggles-biplane.com you will get the full SP. But briefly, she was built at Sywell in 1968/69 by my father in conjunction with Brooklands Aviation. She was built for a universal film “Biggles Sweeps The Skies” for which my father had the contract. She was designed by my uncle and due to the short time scales involve (13 weeks) many tiger moth Components were used, although those that were used were heavily modified!!
She was airtested at Sywell in March 69 and then shipped off to the film company. For several reasons the film was never made and she was sold off to private individuals in the USA. She was crashed on the way to Oshkosh in 1977 and the the wreakage was purchased by Cole Palen in 1982.
She was moved to Old Rhinebeck were she was eventually aquired by Bill King.
Myself and Low’n’slow managed to aquire her from Bill two years ago and she is now back home at Sywell under rebuild and will hopefully fly next Spring 🙂
