Hi all,
I am looking for information and photo’s about the Beam Approach system as fitted in the Halifax and Lancaster. Also any idea where to find parts from this.
Deryck, do you have any info on the NA337 set-up?
Cheers
Cees

Slightly o/t, but does anyone know the effective range of this type of equipment?
Thanks,

Hi Smirky,
Thanks, the items in the second and third pic I also have but
the scheme is very useful thanks. In the beam approach set up
in the Halifax there are two large boxes mounted on top each other.
It’s about these that I need meer info about.
Thanks Deryck, no rush we talk about this later when you get back.
Cheers
Cees

This is the schematic of the Lorenz installation in the Lancaster, is this the sort of thing you need?

Hi Cees, I did not do much in the cockpit area of NA 337. I seem to recollect that we have a Lorenz Blind approach antenna under the nose.
I would have expected to see a standard BABS setup and perhaps an ILS system installed at that late period of the war.
I can PM you the address of Sandy Barr who flew the 644 Squadron Hallies and/or Jeff Jeffery who is a part of the Halifax Rest. Team and who also flew Hallies. They might be able to help you out.
(Or wait until I get back and I will take a look at what is installed.)
If you Google Halifax/Lancaster Blind Approach Landing systems you will get a list of all kinds of equipment numbers etc.

Peter,
Yes, photographs but there are no details or reference numbers. I have one small block of connectors (rectangular with blue color and thin red stripe indicating beam-approach I think). Over the years I have never seen anything resembling beam-approach equipment. Any experts out there?

Cees, are there no drawings on the Halifax explored cd?
