Does anyone know what these little aerials are for?

I wonder how they can look so different to the antennas fitted to the Lancasters.
Doesnt the drawing say its for an ASV antenna?

You know what really gets me is all the speculation on whats going where etc.
In my Oxford dictionary, Speculate means ‘form opinions by guessing.’
Interestingluy it’s right above the word Speculum, ‘medical instrument for looking into bodily cavities.’
I think the former word is somehow related to bodily cavities too, and the talking out of… 🙂

As far as I am aware TFC is a business, correct?
Therefore I would assume that they are the ones who know their business best, right?
So why dont we just leave them to get on with it and marvel at all the delights that do come out of their shed and perform over here from time to time instead of all the is it or isnt it threads.

And any sign of a large crate with either P40B, P47G, SPITFIRE MK XVIII OR TF-51 been sighted in any ports around the country. i’m sure you will all agree, we are in for one hell of a summer.
It will be one hell of a summer at TFC! To get things going the “large crates” containg the Spitfire & P-47 will be arriving early April.

I think maybe we are now in the situation where the loss of one Hurricane from the U.K scene hardly makes any difference. We have benefitted greatly over the years from Canada in terms of warbirds so maybe seeing one head to North America adds to the perception of the type abroad.

does anybody know if the hurri will stay for the airshow season, or is it off pretty soon?
It was de-registered on 20th Feb.
By: markstringer - 6th March 2006 at 10:42
oh dear, i fear a backlash again!!!
whatever happens, i’m sure the aviation community will benefit whether it be stateside or over here. it is a shame the hurri is moving on, but from previous legends airshows i know its has had the old gremlins strike it, but it sure looks pretty. who knows, perhaps the tfc secretly have another hurricane waiting to be restored whenever the time and budget can be found to do so. but i would don’t want to speculate, its my wishful thinking!!!!

I fear we did this topic to death a few weeks back.
Rather than speculate, why don’t we just sit back and see where it eventually does end up?

Where’s our BeauMan when we need him.
Oh, at Legends. Guess we’ll hear some answers Tuesday (Monday to look at all the pics) refind any other non Legends threads.

This appears to be an antenna? but does not comply with the 1F which had “arrow head” antenna mounted on the wing and nose, its not a TFX with a distinctive thimble nose either, I wonder if it might be a VI with AI MK VIII radar, there is some modification to the nose that looks like a blanked of camera gun port?
Of greater concern is the additional equipment seen in detail on the aircraft in the second picture, as the aircraft banks away it is clearly seen a large red “fish-hook” nose antenna is connected by two thin red wires from the two small projections from the side of the nose, it is assumed wartime AM censors normally deleted such secret details and this may in fact be the sole surviving photo of this rare fish-hook antenna (sorry I couldnt help myself lol)
i.e. I have no idea!
