Beaufighter crashed at Detling Kent

If I had any more information I would have posted it I did say it was a long shot. As there are no flying beaufighters it is highly unlikely to have just happened!

I would suggest that when you post this sort of message you state a date, or at least make it clear that you are not reporting something that has just happened (even if the reference is to an aircraft that could not be involved just now). The title “Beaufighter crashed at Detling Kent” may cause a shock at first sight.

I seem to remember reading somewhere that a Beaufighter crashed just off airfield either upon take off or landing from a night sortie, sorry I cant remember where or how I know that, possibly it was from this very forum many years ago.
