Beaufighter G-DINT

The most recent information i have on on this former RAF Halton ground running trainer is that it is with Skysport at Hatch and has been de-registered. Can anyone shed any further light on the subject if this Beaufighter? Beside the image of it at Halton in the 50’s/60’s, are there any other images of her more recently?

There was one which was substantially rebuilt back in 2008, so this is most likely in addition to the rebuilt one. I have been lead to believe there is 3 under restoration along with 3 or 4 P-38’s

Brenden, I thought the ex G-DENT Beaufighter, the one were referring to here was the one that originally went to Wollongong in 2012. So is one of the same.

I would imagine there’d be off the shelf engines to buy once the engine shop has built up the spare parts and had unavailable parts made in batches. Then it just needs finishing off (and the will to finish it). I’m sure it’ll be sold off for a handsome sum, once complete.
Fingers crossed we’ll see one flying from DX in our lifetimes.

I believe this airframe was sold in Australia in 2012. Looking on line I came across this thread. Looks like promising news towards seeing a Beufighter in the air in my lifetime, if from far away!
Well done to the Aussies.
I wonder if there may be some spares to help the Duxford Beufighter engine problems restoration.

If you’re talking about G-DINT, Tim Moore’s father’s nickname in the RAF was “Dinty”, His father flew Beaufighters – and Blenheims. In the Dabbling Duck at Great Massingham, I recall seeing a picture of the ARC Blenheim overflying the village green at Great Massingham at the instigation of Mr. Moore Snr.

Heard an interesting rumour about Beaufighter engines a few days ago – perhaps it needs following up…….

Back in my CCF days I went gliding from Halton and can remember that aircraft built into a shed and wondered what its purpose was although I can’t remember whether it had 3 or 4 bladed props.

I can now remember thinking it might have been a Buckmaster so it must have had the 4 bladed props.Unless of course a Buckmaster was given similar treatment.I would have been about 14 at the time and had never seen either aircraft.

Now if some forward thinking Brats had “spirited away” those “changed engines and props” they would be in a very good bargaining position right now! Instead they probably put more effort in towing Sea Hawks or Provosts to Wendover in the middle of the night…

More likely to have been Spitfires, look in the background.

That particular deal collapsed soon after it happened.

The Skysport aircraft has been in Australia for best part of a year.

Looking at her this week that could still be quite a while.Not sure if anything is being done at the moment.She was roped away from visitors this week so couldn’t see any small details but certainly haven’t seen anyone actively near her for a while.
I guess it depends on how finished they mean.
