It is still in Australia being used in a similar way, pattern for a hybrid engine. Attached is picture of the two engines as they passed through Hawker Restorations on their way to Australia.

Herculean journey! Noted by Peter Vacher in an Indian University, parked outside, retrieved by the Indian Historic Flight, shipped to Brize Norton by Indian AF from Palam, moved to Hawker Restorations, sold and shipped to Australia. One engine purchased and shipped back to UK via Shanghai, China. Now in The Fighter Collection Hangar. Phew!, what a journey.

I wonder how they came to be in India? These engines are Mk. XVI’s which were fitted to the Halifax. What was the Halifax doing in India?

Hi All,

Just a thinking outside the box slightly here as pogno mentioned the Nord Noratlas I cane across these suspicious what look engine containers:- https://www.google.com/maps/@48.951968,2.4231354,126m/data=!3m1!1e3?entry=ttu

If you zoom in they are clearly radial engine containers, were the French and other the Nord Noratlas scrapped at Le Bourget ?  Would there be any chance they could contain Hercules engines that came from the scrapped aircraft ?  Would that mean they may contain some helpful bits and bobs ?

I don’t know how old the satellite picture Google-maps use is that is a main concern ? Can’t hurt with a suggestion though eh ?  But imagine if they did not just for the current project at Duxford but all other projects (Yes Rose tinted glasses time again)

I think the last flyable aircraft powered by Hercules engines is the preserved Nord Noratlas F-AZVM, I sincerely hope they are able to keep it airworthy.

Very exciting . Thanks for sharing.

Am I correct, in assuming that there are currently no airworthy Hurcules flying?

The Hercules ex-Indian University has arrived in the hangar via Indian Historic Flight, Tony Ditheridge and Rob Greinert in Australia. A long torturous journey but I have touched it! We can now move on by removing some components such as magnetos, air deflectors and induction pipes and preparing them for the hybrid engine build. Once we get the overhaul tools out of store the big work can commence.

We have a couple of Hobson AIT carbs. which we will use for the Beaufighter. Am looking to identify commonality of spare parts for Hobson carbs. and injectors in the same time period so we can help all facing the same challenges.

Denys, Do you have the whole manual scanned? If so it could be sent FOC to me by “WeTransfer”.

Wanted! Illustrated Parts Manual for the BI/BH series of Injectorrs so that we can sort out this mess of gaskets we acquired from NZ. Parts list and illustrations can be found at the rear end of the Volume 3 for the 100 and 700 series of the Bristol Hercules engines.

Once done surplus items can be passed on FOC to guys who have Bristol Hercules with this type of injector.

Hi All,

I just wondered if it has come from somebody who infiltrated this forum ? You know like when we were flooded with spam appearing all the time.

It’s obviously a piece of malware but god knows where it came from,  like you already suggested never touched it just hit the delete hopefully that’s and end to it.

Hi All,

Just thought I would ask anyone experiencing email problems in general ?   In particular with Virgin blocking your live mail from sending ?

I have also had a few emails that start with Hello Pervert and demand money ?
